Mendonca Electric is a Massachusetts electrical contractor based in New Bedford. Thumbtack's own directory listing states the business is a Master Electrician, and describes it as handling electrical repair, wiring, lighting, panel and breaker, and generator work for homeowners and small businesses. Customers who hired the company describe fast, responsive service. One homeowner, new to the area, said the crew answered the phone, fit them in quickly, and clearly explained several possible solutions to wiring issues left from earlier work on the house. Another reviewer, whose retail store needed eighteen light fixtures repaired, called the work fast and efficient; a similar review from around the same time praised the same responsiveness on a ceiling-fixture and lighting job. A 2024 review described the team as knowledgeable, transparent, and patient in walking through options before starting work. Nothing in the retrievable reviews raises a concern — no complaints, billing disputes, or unfinished work appear in what's available to read. Before booking, it's worth confirming the license directly with the state and getting a written estimate, since only a small number of total reviews (eight) are available to judge from. Mendonca Electric looks like a solid pick for straightforward residential and light-commercial electrical work — lighting fixes, wiring troubleshooting, and panel or breaker jobs — where responsiveness and clear communication matter.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Mendonca Electric Llc. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
Standard receptacle swaps — a new dedicated circuit is a bigger job ($350–$750).
Flush mounts, pendants, chandeliers — hung on existing boxes.

These guys are the real deal. We're newer to the area, bought a house with a few former homeowner DIYs that weren't visible off the bat, and don't have a list of people to refer to. These guys answer the phone, fit you in, and were able to diagnose the issue and come up with a variety of solutions and explain them in a way we could understand. Extremely intelligent crew with lots of experience but make it feel like you've got friends over to help out fixing something. They're competent and have pride in what they do and the quality of their work shows. Definitely going to call them first next time anything happens.
Guys came in to fix my ceiling tiles and did more than asked for. Changed all tiles, cut and sized them perfectly. Fast and efficient Thanks for all the help guys.
Fast, efficient, great communication, and great service as a whole. Came in fixed all lights in my store (18 lights) and couldnt ask for anything more. Thanks guys.
Mendonca Electric is fantastic; They have solid expertise with deep, firsthand knowledge of all things electrical. They are responsive, personable, thorough, ethical, and transparent, always looking for the best solution and are patient in explaining the options to the customer and reiterating it all when the job is complete. They also have a solid understanding along with years of experience with wireless technology. Mendonca would be able to help electrosensitive customers make the interior of their homes safe from an electromagnetic perspective. I highly recommend Mendonca electric and will be hiring them in the future. Nancy of Wayland, MA.
