A photo at the end of the workday is the thing Mercy Painting's customers keep naming. One, writing in May 2026, says Erick made sure he knew when the crew would arrive and sent a progress report with pictures once the day was done. Another, on a kitchen job in April 2026, mentions the daily photos and texts. A landlord who wrote in October 2024 wasn't there to watch his three-story exterior get painted and his rear decks stained, and got comprehensive daily updates with photos attached instead. The company works out of Everett and says it has been a family business since 2007, covering Suffolk, Norfolk, Middlesex and Essex counties. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active. Erick, whom one customer calls the manager, is on the jobs himself: an April 2025 review comes from someone who says he has been working with him for more than ten years, most recently to come back and add finishing touches to a door. Most of the work described is paint plus the repair that has to happen first. A Boston condo built in the late 1800s needed its old, damaged ceilings replaced before the ceilings, walls and trim were painted, and that September 2025 customer credits the team with handling the unexpected challenges an old building threw up. The owners of an 1832 home, in a February 2024 review, describe plastering, reframed closet doors, new doors and moldings, and prep they called spotless. A January 2025 customer went much further and hired Erik Guevara for an entire first floor — an added bathroom, the sunroom and kitchen, the front foyer and the stairwell. Drywall and water damage recur: in 2024 reviews, a patched wall left with barely any dust, and a ceiling repaired and repainted on short notice after a roof leak. Several customers volunteer that the price was fair or reasonable, and reviewers on Google, Angi and HomeAdvisor describe work finished inside the timeframe they were quoted. HomeAdvisor carries the deepest history — 4.9 stars from 115 ratings — alongside 4.9 from 27 on Google and 5.0 from 16 on Angi. One December 2025 account runs the other way. A customer who had a whole apartment painted said the job itself was OK and that Erick was prompt and willing to work with him, but that he was not given time to inspect the work, and that asking basic questions brought threats of legal action. It is a single review, and it is about how a disagreement got handled rather than about the painting. For an interior repaint that comes bundled with plaster, drywall or ceiling repair — the usual situation in older Boston-area housing — this is a straightforward call, and the same crew takes on exteriors, decks and fence staining.
