Verified record
Michael Keohane, Licensed Electrician works out of the Boston area, with permit records putting the bulk of the jobs in Roslindale, Somerville, Malden, and nearby towns โ BuildZoom credits the company with roughly 165 permitted electrical and carpentry jobs. The written record is genuinely split. In a 2017 review, a homeowner described a full room rewiring โ recessed lighting, new outlets, moved outlets, and cable and phone lines โ done professionally with a full cleanup afterward, and said they'd keep using the crew. Three other accounts tell a different story: a 2016 reviewer said the crew abandoned a circuit job partway through and left exposed wiring unfinished after cashing a check; a 2018 reviewer said they paid $5,000 up front and then got no calls back and no completed work; and a 2020 reviewer said a new circuit breaker panel blew out appliances and needed a $600 fix that was never properly finished. On paper, BuildZoom lists an active Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor registration under this name, which it says it confirmed with the state as of August 2026 โ but the same profile also shows past registrations under other numbers that have since gone inactive, so the licensing history has some churn worth asking about directly. Given the spread between one strong account and three serious complaints about unfinished work and unreturned calls, get a firm timeline and a written scope before paying anything upfront, and confirm the current license status directly with the state.

Mike put in a circuit breaker panel. After finishing I kept blowing out breakers. Lost a toaster over and hair dryer. Mike told me I need a new line for $600. I called new electrician he said the new panel was not up to code. Called Mike I would call inspector if he did not fix it. He did bring it up to code but my alarm is not fixed. Mike said he would call his man JUNE 2020. It is not fix and Mike is not answering his phone. POOR WORK, POOR BUSINESS MAN. I am out $3000. Will be calling the inspector.
$5,000 BEWARE!!!! All the reviews that say he's a no-show are completely accurate. He does not have the decency to return calls or show up. He will take your payment but whether or not the job gets completed or he shows up depends on which way the wind is blowing that day. Stay away!!
Let me first start off by saying that this guy that wrote the other review "Noah" is clearly full of it. You can read between the lines. Michael is an honest, professional and hard-working fair contractor. I am renovating my home and I called Keohane Electric. He was refereed to us by our neighbor who also had some work done by him. I tried calling at least five other electricians, some did not answer, some were rude and not helpful, some wanted to charge me emergency service call rates. When I finally got in touch with Mike he was so very helpful. Mike was on top of everything. We had a lot of work done...recessed lights, new outlets, moved outlets, cable and phone installed, and all the work was done professionally and exactly as I expected. His crew was professional and cleaned up afterwards and made sure our house was cleaner than when they arrived. The whole process as seamless and simple. Mike even made the effort to juggle some other appointments around to accommodate my last minute requests. I will continue to use Keohane Electric in Somerville and recommend them to anyone needing electrical work done!! They are the best! Thanks Mike and your Team! You guys rock and don't be discouraged by those who are not good customers. Owning a business myself I can easily tell and determine a bad customer from a bad contractor. Mike and your crew get 5 stars review from my neighbors and I. There is something to say about a guy and a company that has his entire neighborhood has clients.
fix electrical circuit $800 1 day Beware! Michael Keohane sent his crew to work on my house. They started the work but never finished the job. They reported a mouse nest in the attic and stopped there. Keohane said-- call an exterminator and get back to me in two weeks. That I did. Afterwards Keohane said his men were on their way to finish the work. But they never came. Keohane's boys left exposed wiring unfinished and possibly dangerous. I had to find another electrician to complete the job. Unprofessional? To say the least. Keohane wouldn't answer or return any of my calls. He never explained why the promised finish didn't happen. I have no idea. Keohane, however, cashed a hefty check made out to him personally. I never even got a receipt. No paper. No completion. No good!
