Michael's Moving & Storage has one crew that keeps coming up by name across reviews: Felix's team. Miguel's, Hilbert's, and Edwin's crews get the same kind of specific praise — careful with fragile items, fast, and willing to take on the awkward stuff, like getting a couch up a spiral staircase or a sofa into a loft. On Google, the company holds a 4.9-star average from 1,338 ratings. The physical move itself is what people consistently trust this company for. Recent reviews describe an entire five-bedroom home emptied into two trucks in four and a half hours, a long-distance move from Boston to Georgetown completed carefully during a heat wave, and repeat customers — several are on their second or more move with the company, including one who came back after seven years away. Where the story gets more complicated is what happens around the move rather than during it. In the past six months, several detailed reviews describe the same kind of problem from different angles: one customer's estimate of $600-$800 for a one-bedroom move turned into a bill over $1,600 on moving day; another says a salesman quoted low knowing the price would climb with add-ons; a third describes a scheduled 1-3pm pickup window that dispatch kept pushing back with false promises until the crew showed up at 6pm; a fourth calls out an undisclosed fee that appeared after more than a year, with no callback for over a week. None of these describe damaged work or careless movers — they're about billing, dispatch, and sales communication not matching what was promised on the phone. If you're comfortable getting a written, itemized estimate and confirming the final number before the truck is loaded — a precaution worth taking with any mover — this is a company whose actual crews have a deep and specific track record of careful, efficient work, including with tricky staircases and long-distance runs. The thing to nail down before you book is exactly what's included in your quote and what could change it, since that's where several recent customers say the disconnect happened.

The worst company after 1 year and 5 months they are coming out with fee that we never talk about or either is mentioned in the contract left over 7 messages for the past 9 days and no response until I show up to their. Office and still they couldn’t help, it might be only 200.00 a month only but at least they had loyalty from, one office person can not get ahold of the manager so they keep saying they will call back and never did is insane, now acutely got a better deal with another storage company near.after this review had a conversation with the owner and they have gain my business again good job Michael

Edwin, Angel, and Sig (sorry if I misspelled) were amazing. So quick, so careful with our stuff, couldn’t be happier!

The team was on time, very respectful, patient and gentle with our home furniture. I enjoyed working with them! I didn't love the AI call center though. I would prefer a human interaction. Thank you!

I rally didn’t want to write this and called them 5 times over 3 weeks, but many promises of a call-back never resulted in anything.

They gave me an estimate of in the $600-$800 range, but it ended up costing me $1600+ for 1 bedroom move. My inventory was accurate and there were no really heavy items.

They didn’t show up in the scheduled time, damaged items and an item went missing.

They also lied or miscommunicated about how much a parking ticket cost. Secured their tip before showing me the final bill.

I wanted to talk to the owner and try to hammer out a fair compromise but I guess he is unwilling? Hard to fathom.

I’m hoping I can update this with a fair resolution,

What does a move cost in Greater Boston?
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Michael's Moving & Storage. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
