Michael Silva Carpentry & Remodeling is a Hyannis, Massachusetts-based carpentry and remodeling company, owner-operated by Michael Silva for roughly ten years. The business states on its own site that Michael personally handles every job with no subcontractors, and lists two self-reported Massachusetts license numbers — a Construction Supervisor registration (CS 106219) and a Home Improvement Contractor registration (HIC 175708) — that also show as active on an independent contractor directory. Homeowners who have hired the company describe a remarkably consistent experience over several years: 31 of the 32 reviews collected from Google and Houzz are five stars, and the specifics line up with each other. Reviewers describe full bathroom remodels — a primary en-suite gut renovation, a master bath redo, two bathrooms plus a deck replaced for an out-of-state owner in Orleans — alongside kitchen remodels, additions (including a 250-square-foot addition in Centerville and a 2nd-floor addition), a full basement finished from concrete floors, and a heavy volume of window, door and siding work, including a 23-window replacement and cedar-shingle siding. The recurring theme across nearly all of it is responsiveness: reviewers repeatedly single out prompt answers, steady daily updates (including photos sent to an owner who was not on-site), and delivering on time and within budget. Sixty building permits on file across Hyannis, Yarmouth, Harwich, Centerville and Marstons Mills line up with the kinds of projects the reviews describe, which is a useful independent check that this is a real, active local track record. Worth asking about before booking: one review from late 2024 describes the opposite of that pattern — an initial visit and a promise to follow up that went unanswered, leaving the reviewer feeling ignored. It stands out as a single account against a long run of praise for exactly that trait, so it is worth a direct conversation about current response times and scheduling before committing. It is also worth noting that while the company frames itself as a one-person operation with no subcontractors, the reviews consistently describe a team or crew and coordinated subcontractors for electrical, plumbing, tile, flooring and painting on larger jobs — a normal way to run a remodeling business, but a contrast from the site's own language. Both Massachusetts license numbers show active on an independent directory, but neither was independently verified against the state registry here, so confirming current status directly is a reasonable step. For Cape Cod homeowners looking for a hands-on, owner-run outfit for bathroom and kitchen remodels, additions, or window, door and siding replacement, this is a well-documented, long-running local track record — confirm current scheduling and license status before signing.
Mike just completed a large-scale remodel for us -- it was a job that was more complicated than any of us expected and he handled the setbacks like it was no issue. He shows up when he says he will. He kept us posted daily on progress, and he and his team always cleaned up after themselves. It's rare to find a contractor who is true to his word and takes such pride in their work. Would recommend Mike and his team to anyone.
Mike was on top of things at every step of our remodel. He was on time and on budget. I would hire him for any work.
We had Mike Silva construct a new 250 square foot addition to our home in Centerville...he handled every detail and all he needed from us was the vision....he is a master professional of the highest order and a perfectionist for detail..great personality, sincere demeanor and easily trusted, very very fair and completed the job exactly as promised..There cannot be a better craftsman or his crew on the Cape...to meet him is to immediately like him and as the job progresses a friendship evolves that I believe will last a lifetime....simply a wonderful man who delivers on every front.....
Came over and talked to me about a project I need done which went well. He told me hed contact his guys and let me know on a start date. Now refuses to respond to me for no reason leaving me feeling really abandoned. Will only contact my mother and I'm in my late 30s. This is disrespectful. I'm hurt.
Mike and his crew (all terrific) replaced several sliders and windows for me. Terrific work - they got the whole job done in one day and the result is beautiful. Mike helped me arrange for the materials to be ordered and delivered, he came to lay out the job the day before the install and then was on site throughout. I am a very satisfied customer!
