Moniz Home Improvement is the outfit Harwich homeowners call when a remodel needs one person who shows up, stays on budget, and finishes what he starts. Ken Moniz, a lifelong Cape Cod resident who says he spent 30 years in construction before opening the company, runs it with his wife Nicole handling the office — and the same two names turn up review after review. Kitchens and bathrooms are where the reputation is built. In a 2025 review, a Harwich condo owner had Ken gut and rebuild a kitchen, bathroom, flooring, and lighting in one project and praised his communication throughout; in a 2023 review, another customer described a wall coming out between the kitchen and living room in three hours flat. A 2026 review from a customer working around 40-year-old plumbing on a tight budget still came away thrilled with a remodeled kitchen and bathrooms — one of only two reviews on file from the last six months, and it lines up with everything that came before it. The work runs beyond kitchens. A 2025 review describes tearing down a rickety, decades-old DIY porch and replacing it with a custom deck the building inspector said could hold a parked truck; another from the same year describes converting a deck into a sunroom. A 2024 review walks through a full basement build-out — a theater room, a wine room, and a half bath squeezed in below the septic line. Across fifteen reviews collected between 2021 and 2026 on Google and BuildZoom, none are negative, and one customer's review, posted in late 2024 and updated the following year, describes coming back for a second project. The paperwork backs it up. The state registry confirms Moniz Home Improvement's home improvement contractor registration (179261) is active, BuildZoom's permit data shows 39 completed jobs scattered across Cape towns behind a BuildZoom Score of 132 — the top 1% of the Massachusetts contractors it tracks — and the company carries a $2 million insurance policy. The Better Business Bureau grades it A+, though the business hasn't sought BBB accreditation. Worth asking about before booking: the crew is small. Reviews name the same two or three people — Ken plus helpers Franklin and Xavier — on nearly every job, which reads as a hands-on outfit built around one project at a time rather than several crews running in parallel. For a kitchen, bathroom, deck, or basement project on the Cape where you want the owner on site, that's the draw; if the timeline is tight or the job is large, it's worth confirming current scheduling before signing on.
Absolutely wonderful to work with!
Ken and Nicole are very easy to work with. We were on a tight budget and we were able to stick to it, even with some issues with our 40 year old plumbing. They remodeled our kitchen and bathrooms and we are thrilled with the results! We had never done a home improvement project and they were helpful and supportive throughout the entire process.
Pleasure to work with and always kept updated on the project. Thanks
Recently worked with Ken on a kitchen renovation of a small quirky cottage. I can honestly say it was a fun experience from start to finish. We liked Ken and Nicole right from our first meeting. They listened to what WE wanted. They gave us ideas and options but did not try to upsell us to make it a bigger project, as others had done. Our project started right on schedule and they worked daily until it was completed. We were truly impressed with Ken and crew, Franklin and Xavier. They worked so well together and were friendly, thank you for the great job you did for us! Any issues that arose, as they always do, were discussed and solved pretty quickly We are very happy with our new kitchen, it is simple and timeless and just what we wanted. We would highly recommend them, and will defintely call them for future needs.
I can’t say enough wonderful things about Ken Moniz and his crew! They tore down a rickety diy’d three season porch built the 70’s, off the back of my house and built the most incredible deck of my dreams. Every single detail was tended to. Because of the nature of the old structure, there were some quirks to work out and they came up with such clever, thoughtful solutions to everything, making the whole thing very custom and incredibly solid. The building inspector said I could park a truck up there and it wouldn’t budge! Not to mention just how much of a pleasure it was to have Ken and his guys around…straight up good, honest people. My dog was best buddies with them the first week in. Honestly, I was a little sad to see them go when it was all wrapped up. 10/10 recommend and will definitely use them for any future projects.
