Moylan Contracting

Moylan Contracting is a Waltham general contractor that people hire when the job is a whole room or a whole house: a kitchen and bath from the 1960s brought up to date, two bedrooms and a bathroom taken to the studs, a garage turned into a gym, a loft in a former industrial building rebuilt top to bottom. John Moylan runs the crew, and Angi and HomeAdvisor both put the company at 14 years of experience — the profiles' own figure. Across 33 Angi ratings, every one is five stars, and the thing customers keep describing is how the job runs, not just how it ends. Daily updates come up again and again: a 2019 reviewer said John called every day with what was done and what came next, and finished the whole job in 10 days; a 2020 customer described a 1957 bathroom completely remodeled in two and a half weeks with the crew arriving on time or early each day. In a 2021 review, a homeowner who had collected three or four quotes for a full bathroom remodel — their only shower — said everyone else estimated six-plus weeks, John promised two, and it was done in 13 days, down to the studs. Another 2021 customer wrote that John and the crew gutted two bedrooms and a bath, insulated, and fixed structural problems the owners had not known about. People also describe him as a fixer of other contractors' messes. A 2020 reviewer had been left with a hastily framed, poorly built front porch by someone else; Moylan corrected it and finished the porch ahead of schedule. A 2020 customer who had bad luck with prior contractors said an extensive remodel of a newly bought home finished ahead of schedule too. The most recent written accounts, from 2023 and 2024, echo the older ones — a bathroom renovation completed in three months, help choosing affordable materials, calls returned quickly. Nothing in the reviews points to a snag; the written history runs from late 2018 to early 2024, so ask for a couple of recent projects. A strong call for a gut renovation or full kitchen or bath where you want a daily update and a firm schedule; confirm the timeline and the change-order process in writing before work starts.
