Mr. Handyman of Cape Cod and the Islands, based in South Dennis, is the call for the stuff that piles up on a homeowner's to-do list — a stuck cabinet drawer, a railing that needs hanging, a kitchen door that won't shut right. Reviewers rarely mention the company by name first; it's the tradesman who shows up — Tyler, Jon Bowden, Steve, Dave — that gets credited. Google shows 4.8★ across 456 ratings, and Thumbtack, Angi, and Houzz all land in a similar 4.5–4.8★ range, with 304 reviews on file dating back to 2018. The specifics hold up: a kitchen door replaced within about a day of the initial call, cabinets repaired and reinstalled, and a bathroom finished — with daily cleanup — in a few days, in reviews from earlier this year. More recently, reviewers mention railings and banisters installed, a tricky window A/C unit, and docks cleared of ice before a storm. A few say crews vacuum or mop before leaving, and one reviewer counted this as their fourth or fifth job with the company. Price is where the friction shows up. One reviewer called $400-plus to swap a wax toilet ring and flange, plus a $10 credit-card surcharge, excessive; another, writing in 2022, said the labor cost on a small outdoor repair felt out of proportion to about 45 minutes of work. Get a firm estimate before the truck rolls — one May 2026 reviewer says they weren't sure of the number going in. Separately, a dryer vent the company installed failed within months, and the reviewer says they were asked to pay again for the fix; another describes being told a low-voltage data and thermostat wiring job needed a licensed electrician rather than getting a plain answer about it. The Better Business Bureau lists a B- grade with one complaint on file, and BBB records show a Massachusetts BBRS license number for the company — a number the Bureau publishes, not one independently verified against the state registry. For the everyday list — installs, repairs, a small remodel — the record here is deep and consistent; ask for a written estimate up front given the pricing complaints, and you'll likely get the tradesman the reviews keep naming.
“I couldn't be happier we called Mr. Handyman of Cape Cod for some plumbing issues. The tradesman they sent was named Jon and he did a fantastic job installing my new kitchen sink.”
on time, friendly, clean
From start to finish it was a professional & smooth process. I had a railing and banister installed at a summer house for my parents. Communication with Kerri was clear and straightforward. Tyler did an excellent job installing. He takes pride in his work-as he should because he did an awesome job. Happy & would highly recommend, Mr Handyman of Cape Cod.
I recently had Mr. Handyman of Cape Cod do a variety of work at my house. It was a great experience as everyone was friendly, timely and thorough with the project. They do a variety of things and I highly recommend them and I certainly will be using them again.
Excellent! I needed a particularly tricky window A/C installed. Dave was awesome. Professional, detail-oriented and super nice. Within 10 minutes of the job having been completed, I received a follow-up call from Carrie (sp?) in the office just to ensure everything was to my satisfaction. Highly recommend!
Tyler very squared away, great communication skills and his work exceptional. Job well done.
