MRW Mechanical is a Marblehead HVAC contractor run by Matthew Waldman (Matt), a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer with an active Massachusetts HVAC license. The company says it's been in business locally for 15 years (a BBB profile puts the figure at 28), and it covers a wide swath of the North Shore — Marblehead, Salem, Beverly, Danvers, Peabody, and a dozen other towns. The five reviews on file split sharply. On the positive side, a 2025 review described Matt arriving on time for routine maintenance, discovering system filters the previous company hadn't replaced in a decade, and having the parts on his truck to fix it on the spot. A 2023 review said he showed up within an hour on a frigid Saturday to fix a dead furnace and explained how to prevent it happening again. But two reviews describe real follow-through failures. A 2024 review said a customer bought two full HVAC units and, within a year, couldn't get one non-functioning unit serviced — repeated "maybe next week" promises stretched past a year with no visit, forcing the customer to hire someone else. A 2023 review described a pump MRW installed during an AC service that came apart and leaked water, damaging a wood floor, with no acknowledgment of responsibility; that same customer said the original service took several months to complete. The BBB, separately, notes a customer complaint about slow response times on its own MRW profile. MRW can do strong, well-equipped emergency and diagnostic work, but the two accounts of stalled follow-up and an unaddressed installation issue are worth asking about directly — get a clear commitment on response time and warranty follow-through in writing before signing.
Excellent HVAC Service and Preparedness! Matt from this HVAC company arrived right on time for our appointment. What started as regular maintenance quickly became a more involved job when he discovered hidden system filters that hadn't been replaced in a decade by the previous Heat Company. Fortunately, Matt was prepared and had the necessary parts on his truck! He seamlessly pivoted and took the extra time needed to complete the replacement on the spot. Highly professional and efficient service!
We have purchased 2 full units and within one year he kept on saying maybe next week I will make it out when we requested service for one of the non functioning units. A year later still has not made it out. We had to find a new company to service and order part which still isn't in. He could have helped us last fall and now still without air becuase of his passive communication and complete lack of ethical service to us.
Poor customer service , quality of service and timely service . It took several months to service out AC that was installed by them . After the service, although the AC worked the pump that was replaced continued to make a loud noise. Noticed the AC was leaking water and damaged our wood floor , had to call another company to fix . The pump was so poorly installed it had come apart therefore allowing water to leak into to our floor . In summary , Matt never took responsibility for his late and poor quality of service .
We called Matt over the recent frigid weekend when our furnace stopped working. He promptly responded to our call and was at our house within an hour, on a Sat no less! Matt fixed the problem in an expeditious manner and clearly explained details on the issue and how to rectify in the future. In a day and age where customer service is virtually non existent, MRW came through in a big way.
Matt is a good guy and knows his stuff.
