Murphy's Air Conditioning, Heating & Plumbing is a South Yarmouth contractor covering Cape Cod, offering air conditioning, heating, and plumbing sales, service, and installation for both residential and commercial customers — everything from furnaces, boilers, and water heaters to toilets, faucets, and garbage disposals. The company carries a 4.8-star average across 1,910 Google ratings, an unusually large review base for the area, and the specific feedback backs it up. Reviewers name individual technicians — Max, Steve Delaney, Eric, Bruce, Nathan, Corey, and Derek among them — again and again for efficient diagnostics, clear explanations, and clean work sites, and several describe multi-day jobs (a new compressor and air handler, ductless mini-split systems, full heating-system replacements) finished cleanly and on schedule. Some customers report using Murphy's for years across a mix of small and large issues, and multiple reviews describe fast response when an AC or heating system failed outright. A few things are worth asking about before booking. The Better Business Bureau grades the business B-, citing a failure to respond to one complaint. Despite the strong overall average, a run of substantive 2026 reviews describes real friction: one customer says a technician ordered the wrong replacement part and left a valve-repair job unresolved overnight; another, enrolled in the maintenance plan, says a $400+ repair charge hit their card on file without being told the price beforehand, for a fix a technician suggested probably wasn't worth doing; and more than one review describes an AI-driven phone system and missed scheduling callbacks against the plan's promised 24-hour response. A longtime commercial customer in Provincetown also wrote in 2026 that scheduling and personal attention have gotten noticeably less reliable compared with past years. One older Better Business Bureau review alleges the company pushed an unneeded furnace, though that account stands alone in the record. For a straightforward repair or installation, the volume and specificity of technician-level praise here is hard to ignore — this is a shop with real depth of experience across HVAC and plumbing work. If you're signing up for the maintenance plan or scheduling anything urgent, it's worth getting a firm price and a specific appointment window in writing given the recent complaints about billing and callback delays.
Steve patiently diagnosed the issue, recharged our split AC with like 6lbs of gas. He said he’d come back to find the source of the leak so we can permanently resolve the issue. We’ve had the same issue back in 2023 when we paid $$$ to get a recharge/refill. For now, we have a working AC and are hoping his next visit resolves the underlying issue of a leak in the line set.
Austin was great! Can we keep him?
Nathan was outstanding. Very knowledgeable and extremely experienced.
Corey was fantastic. Started with very professional estimate. Explained the process for the installation of my outside shower. On installation day, he did everything he said and had a very professional journeyman assisting him. I have and will continue to recommend Murphy to anyone who asks.
Max was courteous and efficient. Had no trouble identifying our problem!
