MZ Painting & Repairs

MZ Painting and Repairs is Matthaios Bouzas's family-run painting business, working out of Roslindale since 2020, and its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration checks out as active on the state registry under his name. Across jobs described in reviews from 2020 through 2025, a recurring theme is value: more than one customer describes getting significantly more work done for meaningfully less than competing bids, including a 2020 deck job where other contractors wanted well over a thousand dollars for sanding, sealing and painting a deck that Matthaios finished for less after replacing the rotten boards himself. The written record covers a wide range of jobs — interior and exterior painting, deck repair and staining, pressure washing, trim and drywall work, even fixing broken siding and building a basement door on one job. A 2021 review singles out the fine trim and window-pane work Matthaios did personally on an 85-year-old bungalow, noting that having the owner himself on the tools shows in the quality. A more recent 2025 review describes the family crew showing up every day, including weekends, to keep a tight schedule. Not every account is clean, though. A 2021 Angi review, while praising the paint job itself, described unclear communication around pricing and the crew not putting things back where they found them. An older 2020 review was harsher still, saying the job felt like it was being squeezed in on the side rather than given full attention, alongside a pricing misunderstanding. Both are worth knowing about even as the great majority of the written record — spanning five years and four platforms — is strongly positive. Angi, HomeAdvisor and Thumbtack all put the rating in the mid-to-high 4s from 21 ratings each, and Thumbtack separately verified the same Massachusetts license number as of April 2026, matching the state registry. For a straightforward paint job, especially one that might come with some deck or trim repair on the side, MZ Painting and Repairs has a long and mostly strong record — it's worth being clear about pricing and scope up front, given the two lower-starred reviews on file.
