Ask anyone who has hired National Floors and you get a first name back: Robert. Or Bob. He is the whole proposition — an owner-operated hardwood shop working the North Shore, listed on Porch as serving Peabody, with three employees and, by Thumbtack's count, 37 years at it. The work is wood: installation and refinishing, engineered hardwood, luxury vinyl over levelled subfloors, sanding and staining. Thumbtack rates him 4.9 across 27 reviews against 31 hires; Porch carries 66 reviews of its own. What runs through those accounts is speed and straight talk. A homeowner writing in June 2026 had more than a thousand square feet stained and called the floors gorgeous. In a December 2024 review, a customer credited him with advising against restoring floors that were too far gone — the opposite of an upsell. In July 2019 someone who had spent days looking for help said he came out that afternoon and laid the floor in a single day, and a December 2019 review described a second-floor apartment wrecked by tenants and turned around in time for Monday. Not everyone is satisfied. One Porch reviewer was plainly unhappy, saying corners were cut and that they felt they had to watch the work closely. That is one account against a long run of positive ones, but it is worth raising with him directly, along with what the quoted scope actually covers. One practical warning before you dial. Search this name and most of what comes back belongs to National Floors Direct, a much larger multi-location retailer based in Braintree and Avon with its own advertising, its own reviews and its own complaints. It is a different company. Best suited to hardwood work where you want the owner doing the job rather than a sales rep and a subcontracted crew — refinishing, patching, a room or two of new floor. Ask for a written scope and a couple of recent local references before the first board goes down.

Absolutely, would not recommend them.It was the worst decision ... After the salesman left everything went downhill.. The woman from the company called said they were showing up tomorrow, and that was not the day that we agreed on.So I had to rearrange everything, because she was not going to change that.Very argumentive... Then, when they showed up, they didn't show up 1 o'clock in the afternoon.And this was supposed to be a one day job kitchen in hallway.. Hour and a half into tearing up my old rugs and not removing them.One of the third party workers screamed asbesto... So they completely left the house and disarray.. after spending quite a verbal abuse of phone call to the company, they wanted me to pay and fall before their workers would leave my driveway after threatening and bullying me they got their way because I was way too upset to continue, with all of this, leaving my house in the manner.They did...my elderly and disabled relative that lived in the house tripped on the mess that they made and left her with a busted face , her arm ripped open, her leg and her hipped wide open... We decided to sue them 4 years later, we win, .. Not only were they not licensed to call asbesto, we had no asbesto....not once through the whole process Did they ever call, write, or did we ever hear back from the salesman who said I will be with you from a to z? I had my living room and hallway hardwood replaced with a pretty gray vinyl floor last week. And while I love the way it came out, the company neglected to tell me that after it was done, the 3 doors involved in the area covered, would not close or open all the way. Two of them were bedroom doors. I had to hire a handyman, and pay him, to cut the bottom of the three doors so that they would shut! They make you sign electronically like 10 pages of information and tell you make sure you read everything but I feel that the sales person shouldve been upfront with me about this. The installers just told me that the company doesnt cut doors and Id need to hire someone on my own. So there was that expense along with the not so inexpensive cost they charged me (which they also mislead you in their advertising, saying they will beat anyones price by 15%). Overall it was ok but just wish they had disclosed this to me.

Very happy with the overall experience with National Floors Direct. From the initial quote through scheduling and installation, the whole process was handled efficiently and with good communication. I'd recommend negotiating the price a bit, as they seemed willing to be flexible and work with us. The installers stayed in touch regarding their arrival time, confirmed all materials before starting, and worked quickly and professionally. They left the area clean when they were done and even left the extra material behind in case we need it down the road.

National Floors Direct did an outstanding job replacing our carpeted floor with laminate flooring. Dan our sales rep. gave us the best possible pricing available. Dan was on time for our appointment and on target meeting our needs. The professional technicians who laid our floors were efficient and effective and completed the job expeditiously.
