Nature's Defense is a one-person, family-run operation out of Amesbury that people keep going back to specifically because the treatment is organic — reviewers repeat the word "safe" more than any other, for kids, dogs, and the yard itself, and mean it as a selling point against companies using harsher chemicals. Randell Messina owns and runs the business, which the company describes as licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Agriculture (self-reported, not independently verified here) to apply 25(b)-exempt organic tick and mosquito treatments across Essex County towns — Amesbury, Newburyport, Ipswich, Andover, Lowell, and a dozen others. The 24 written Google reviews on file, running from 2023 through early 2025, are unanimous — every one is five stars, and several describe specific before-and-after results: a family near conservation land said mosquito numbers dropped substantially even in years neighbors called bad, another reported not seeing a single tick all year, and one described calling in a panic a week before a family cookout and getting same-day treatment that left the yard bug-free for the party. Reviewers who live near a marsh or abutting woods — typically the hardest yards to treat — describe the same result. Communication comes up almost as often as effectiveness: Randell texts or calls ahead of each spray and again when it's finished, and several long-time customers (some five-plus years in) describe the relationship as personal rather than transactional — "I feel like family," one wrote. Google shows a 5★ average from 31 ratings, in line with the written record. There's nothing negative on file to weigh against it, though the sample — one owner-operator, a few dozen reviews — is naturally smaller than a larger regional company's. For anyone prioritizing organic pest control and wanting the same person on the property season after season, this is a well-documented, consistent pick; just note the self-reported licensing claim hasn't been independently checked here.

This is the first year in many years that my husband and I were able to sit on our deck and not be eaten alive! It was wonderful! Randall was good at communicating and letting us know when he would be spraying or letting us know if there was a time change. I highly recommend Randall and Nature’s Defense!
Highly recommend! Works great!
I’ve tried a LOT of bug repellents, but this one really bugged me—in the best way possible! No mosquitoes or ticks in sight, and I can finally enjoy the great outdoors without being "bugged" all day long.
The best! I had a bad mosquito problem out my house for several years. No other company made any progress on eradicating them all. Then, I called Natures Defense Organic Tick and Mosquito Control in Amesbury and they got rid of the mosquitos lickety split. Randall is awesome and I highly recommend him to anyone who has a tick/mosquito problem.
I had a great experience with this company. Great service and great courtesy. Would call again
