Verified record
Sevigny Electric is Stephen Sevigny's one-person electrical practice, working out of Newton since at least 2009. BuildZoom lists both his electrician license (#21513) and the company's electrical business license as active in Massachusetts, verified as recently as April and May of 2026, and its records show 126 permitted electrical projects — a real body of work even though its written reviews all predate 2020. The reviews on file, all from 2009 through 2019 on Angi, describe the same habits over and over: showing up early or right on time, giving a detailed and accurate estimate, and finishing jobs faster than expected. In a 2014 review, a customer said Stephen labeled the wiring in their house so future electricians wouldn't run into the same confusion he had to untangle. In a 2010 review, another said his quote was thorough enough that they didn't hesitate to hire him. The jobs described include panel and service upgrades, knob-and-tube rewiring, recessed lighting, ceiling fans, and troubleshooting outdoor outlet problems. One thing worth flagging: in a 2019 review, a customer said Stephen was more receptive to her husband's input than hers during a lighting project, and that he needed to be pushed before acting on her aesthetic preferences — though she was satisfied with the finished work once he did. For panel upgrades, rewiring, or general electrical work in a Newton-area home, Sevigny Electric has a long-running, well-reviewed history to draw on, even though that written record is now several years old. Given the gap since 2019, it's worth confirming his current availability directly before scheduling.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Sevigny Electric LLC. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
Standard receptacle swaps — a new dedicated circuit is a bigger job ($350–$750).
Flush mounts, pendants, chandeliers — hung on existing boxes.

Steve is very competent and does great work. We found that he was more ready to listen to the male half of our couple than the female and resisted our aesthetic concerns until we made them non-negotiable. Nonetheless, with his skill and knowledge of the lighting market, we were able to find an extremely satisfying solution.
Stephen responded quickly, likes early in the morning to facilitate customer getting to work, is neat, efficient, and safety conscious. Very professional!
Stephen responded quickly and scheduled an appointment for the next morning. He was thorough and professional. Identified the problem and repaired it within an hour. Reasonably priced.
Very responsive, solid work
Responsive, punctual and skillful, Stephen did a fine job. I would readily recommend him and use him again.
