Most people call New England Solar Hot Water about one appliance: the water heater. The Canton company says it was founded there in 2008 and designs and installs heat pump water heaters, split heat pump water heaters and solar hot water systems, and its Google page carries a 4.9 average from 40 ratings. Bruce Dike, named as owner in a 2023 Gazette article, comes up by name in review after review, often alongside John. The recent Google reviews describe jobs that moved quickly. A May 2026 customer who had been quoted as high as $11K elsewhere says the company emailed information within an hour of a web inquiry, installed within 2.5 weeks and helped arrange a 0% Heat Loan from Mass Save. A June 2026 customer says the crew worked them into the schedule before they ran out of oil; an April 2026 customer who collected multiple estimates calls the price very fair and says they found the company after seeing Bruce on This Old House. Older accounts fill in the work itself. In a July 2025 review, a mechanical engineer described a one-day install that got past an incoming city water valve that would not fully shut off, with the outdoor panel mounted under the eaves facing close to south. An April 2025 customer said the team removed a failing rooftop system left by a vendor that had gone out of business, patched the roof leaks it had caused and installed a solar hot water heat pump on time and on budget. A November 2025 reviewer said the price beat quotes for a conventional heat pump model, and a July 2025 reviewer replacing 42-year-old collectors said the company beat another quote by thousands, adding that a couple of early issues were fixed when the crew came right back. The company has also worked at a larger scale: a 2024 Advocate News article reports it installed 48 solar thermal collection panels on a high school roof above the pool. On licensing, the Massachusetts electrician licence #583-EL-A1, held by New England Solar Hot Water, Inc, is listed as expired on the state registry. Its BBB grade is A+.
