A 2023 Reddit post in r/massachusetts warned readers to avoid the company outright, with no detail on what went wrong. On the other side, a Halifax-area Nextdoor thread this June saw a neighbor pass along the company's number when someone asked for help clearing brush from a rental property. The Better Business Bureau lists an A+ grade for the company, which is not BBB-accredited. Newcomb's says it's a Tree Care Industry Association member and has a Certified Tree Care Safety Professional on staff. One thing worth asking about: the company's own marketing is inconsistent about how long it's been around — "over 25 years" on the home page, "over 21 years" on its About and service-area pages, and a self-reported "26 years" elsewhere, though its stated founding year of 2000 lines up closest with the higher figures. Given the mixed signal from the Reddit warning, it's worth asking around before booking.
