Reviews of North Shore Pool Boys split almost exactly down the middle between two different experiences: one where Chris shows up, diagnoses the problem fast, and does excellent, detailed work, and one where he simply doesn't show up at all. The Peabody-based outfit handles pool openings, closings, liner repair, leak detection and above-ground pool installs across the North Shore; its own site describes it as locally owned, not a franchise, with Chris himself named as the person who answers every inquiry and over 5 years building the business. When it goes well, it goes very well. Reviewers going back to 2023 describe Chris tracking down and fixing above-ground pool leaks, replacing a burst pump mid-summer when no one else could get out for weeks, and, this July, patching a brand-new liner installed by someone else in time to save a graduation party for 60 guests. Several 2026 reviews name Rich and Rico as skilled, detail-oriented crew members working alongside him, and one customer credited Chris with fixing a pump for a fraction of what other companies quoted. But a second pattern runs just as deep, and it shows up independently across many different customers rather than in one bad stretch: a scheduled opening or repair gets promised, the crew doesn't show, and calls and texts go unanswered — in at least two 2026 cases, the customer only got a response after calling from a different phone number. A 2026 Angi review described the business as essentially a one-man operation with little help, calling reliability "a constant problem" even when the finished work was good. An older 2022 review described hours-long lateness and excuses, and a 2024 review described a pool opening left incomplete with the filter improperly fitted. Its Google page shows 4.4 stars from 94 ratings, while Angi and HomeAdvisor each show just 1.5 from 6 — a real split in how differently customers have rated the same company depending on where they posted. This is a reasonable call for a specific, well-defined repair or a liner job where the diagnosis is fast, but get a firm date in writing and a backup contact number — the recurring complaint isn't the quality of the work, it's whether the crew shows up when promised.
Opened my pool to find that the beaded liner slipped out of the receiver in two places. Unable to fix the problem by myself, I called Chris who came by and fixed the problem. It’s hard to find someone who works on above ground pools as most only service in ground. Chris is professional and is very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend him.
Awful! They came out on 5/15/26 to open the pool, and took the cover off (not the proper way) and set up filter then left, said the would be back. Never came back when said. Then had to call from multiple numbers to get any response. Spoke with Chris he said he would be back 7/2 or 7/3, NO SHOWED. Waited around all day and no show no response through text. Have called and text multiple times since and absolutely no response. They cashed the check right away and still have yet to finish the job. DO NOT USE, awful.
Chris and the crew did a phenomenal job with a last-minute pool cleaning. On top of that, they were on time and kept me updated every step of the way. I highly recommend them!
So happy with these guys! Responded quickly and patched my leaks (in a brand new pool/liner installed by someone else last July). We had a graduation party for 60+ people scheduled for the following weekend and we were panicking. Chris knew we were in a time crunch and came out in the rain to help us out. We will be using them to open and close our pool from now on.. Checked in the next day and a few days later to see how their work was holding up. Very knowledgeable, super respectful -great guys
would not recommend North Shore Pool Boys. This is essentially a one-man operation run by Chris, with little to no help. While the quality of his work was good when he actually showed up, reliability was a constant problem. Chris missed multiple scheduled appointments, was extremely unreliable, and frequently failed to show up without any communication. Calls and text messages often went unanswered, leaving me wondering if he was ever coming. After the first round of missed appointments, I gave him a second chance. He explained that he had taken on more customers than he could handle, and I believed things would improve. Unfortunately, the exact same pattern happened again. More missed appointments, no follow-up, and complete silence when I reached out. At that point, I had no choice but to fire him and hire a company that is dependable and actually shows up when they say they will.
