Pools Unlimited is a Peabody company Joe Carpenito runs with his family — the site calls him "The PoolFather," and virtually every one of the 19 reviews on file names him directly. It's an inground-pool specialist: openings and closings, vinyl liner replacement, equipment repair, and full installations, working across Peabody, Salem, Danvers and much of the North Shore. What sets the reviews apart is how much detail customers give about actual jobs. In a 2026 review, a customer describes discovering leaky pipes, having Joe's team break through the concrete to fix the pipe, repair the concrete, and install a new liner. Another, from 2026, describes an emergency call on the morning of July 4th, when a pump and filtration system failed — Joe came out that same morning. A 25-year customer with a 20'x40' inground pool wrote that their first liner lasted over 20 years, and when it finally needed replacing, Joe brought a catalogue of options and installed the new one the following spring. Several reviews describe Pools Unlimited stepping into difficult situations: in a 2024 review, one customer wrote that their prior pool contractor had vanished a quarter of the way through the project before Joe's team picked it up, improved the plan, and finished it at a fair price. A 2024 review describes a similar rescue — a 1979 pool that seemed headed for being filled in until Pools Unlimited brought it back, with the company's Heidi keeping the customer updated throughout. New pool installations get similar marks: one reviewer called the pricing reasonable, the workmanship second to none, and the job finished ahead of schedule. The written record isn't spotless — a single 2023 one-star review reads only "they didn't have what I needed," with no further detail on what that was. It's the one outlier in an otherwise consistent run of five-star reviews stretching back to 2022. The company's own site says it's been supplying pool equipment since 1985 and providing pool services for over 30 years, though the Better Business Bureau's file lists a 1989 start date — the two don't quite line up, but both point to a business with decades of history in the same family's hands.
