North Shore Roofing is a family-run outfit out of Lynn that's been doing roof and chimney work across the North Shore since 1987, and the same two names anchor nearly every account: owner Peter (also called Peter Miller in a few reviews) runs the crews, and his wife April handles calls, quotes, and scheduling. The self-reported service area covers Danvers, Peabody, Beverly, and Salem, and the description on their own site pairs roofing with chimney work — asphalt shingles, flat/rubber roofs, storm and leak repair, and chimney flashing and repointing — which tracks with what customers actually describe hiring them for. The chimney work is where the specifics run deepest. In a 2024 review, one homeowner says she waited through two rainstorms before writing, wanting to confirm a persistent leak around her chimney was actually fixed — it was, with Peter credited for finding exactly where water was getting in at a steep roof pitch. Other jobs describe full roof tear-offs and replacements: a 1950s cape's rear addition got a new rubber membrane and fresh flashing (2024), and a garage roof was rebuilt with added insulation to cut summer heat inside (2025). Most wrap up in one to two days, with cleanup customers specifically call out as thorough. A 2025 repair shows they follow through on problems too — after a quick shingle fix held through one storm but loosened again in strong winds, the crew was back out immediately to resecure it. The one sour account is older and about the front end, not the finished work: in a 2021 review, a caller says Paul came out to scope a job, then never returned a quote despite four follow-up calls — no number, no explanation. Nothing since repeats that pattern, but it's worth getting pricing in writing before you count on a start date. North Shore Roofing reads like the right call for a full roof replacement or a stubborn chimney leak on the North Shore — the strongest theme here is chimney and flashing work paired with reroofs, not one-off patch jobs. Confirm your quote is in hand in writing, and you're likely looking at a crew that shows up on schedule and doesn't leave a mess behind.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from North Shore Roofing. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
A square is 100 sq ft of roof surface — bigger than the floor plan because of pitch and overhangs.

Peter and his crew did an amazing job, after discovering a lot of dry rot they wasted no time on the necessary repair. Replaced the shingles on the entire roof as well as repair the chimney and added ridge vents, once the work was complete they cleaned any mess they made. All this work was done in the same day! Highly recommend North Shore Roofing.
Pete and his guys were here to repair a brick and mortar chimney that incurred some damage during the winter. First visit was for the quote, Joe listened carefully to understand exactly what I wanted done and why, he agreed with the work scope and a very reasonable quote was sent to me the next day. The quote was approved and they were here 2 weeks later Pete, Joe and Esteban were here to perform the job. They did exactly what we agreed on along with some additional work without additional charge. A great family owned business to work with, I will use them again when we replace the roof.
Where do I begin? First, Peter is a wonderful person to do business with - both he and his wife April, are friendly and professional in an 'old school' way. There is NO 'tail-light guarantee' with this man. He will make sure the job is done and done right. Above and beyond Peter's thorough professionalism, his crew was amazing. I have never witnessed anything like it. Our home is quite large with many different roof levels and steeply pitched areas (3 stories in some areas), skylights and chimney's. It was as mesmerizing as watching a ballet, seeing the way this crew works. Before work began, the whole perimeter of the house was covered with tarps - large windows or screened areas were covered with mesh screening to keep the old roofing materials from hitting them. Once the old roof removal began, discarded materials were promptly scooped up and carted to the dumpster that had been delivered the day before (along with a port-o-potty! Thank you very much!). The old roof was off, the roof decking was prepped and flashed where necessary and new ice/water shield materials (and any etcetera stuff) were installed - I think before lunch! After a brief break, the new shingles began to be installed. Did I mention that some of this crew were women? No? Well, these women worked as hard as every man on the crew of (I think) 11. They were lugging hundreds of pounds of discarded roofing stuff to the dumpster in wheelbarrows. They're the one's that sat on the peaks of the roof, feeding shingle sheets to the men below who were positioning and nailing the sheets into place. The crew members have clearly choreographed a rhythm and pace that works efficiently and to watch it was fascinating. No one on the crew was ever just standing around. A big job that was expected to take 2 or maybe 3 days was primarily done in one day (one small porch roof had to wait 'til the next morning). At the end of day one, everything was collected, tarps cleared of debris and folded away, ladders removed. Except for the dumpster (which will be picked up later) it was like no one had been here. They even went over the perimeter of the house and the driveway with magnetic 'brooms' to collect and/or make sure there were no errant nails anywhere that could cause harm or flat tires. Over 31 years here, we've dealt with a lot of different contractors for this and that... some that we'd like to forget entirely. That is NOT the case with North Shore Roofing. Peter, April and his crew are *hands-down* the BEST home maintenance/repair experience we have *ever* had. I can't recommend him enough and would hire him again in a nanosecond. Our new roof looks beautiful and the whole experience went so smoothly and was completed 100% as promised. Additionally, Peter guarantees his workmanship. Thank you, Peter. This is the easiest review I have ever written. We're grateful.
Peter is the roofer I would call for a new roof or repair. He has done both at our house and has always been helpful with questions, conscientious, and done excellent work. We had an ice dam at the chimney this year. He repaired the damaged roofing and fixed cracks in the mortar on the chimney. We will always call him if necessary in the future!
Peter was great to work with. He explained all our options and his recommendations, with no pressure. His team went right to work and a new roof on a big house was completed in 2 days. Clean up was thorough. April was also great to work with. Two thumbs up!!!!
