The reviews for Oak Development & Design stop in February 2017. The building permits do not. BuildZoom's records show twelve permitted projects for the Hingham company, and they are not small: a $1,120,000 new single-family home on Martins Lane in 2023, a $560,000 new build on Chestnut Place the year before, and — the one that shows the range — a $485,000 whole-house renovation on Popes Lane covering four bathrooms, a kitchen, new hardwood in the bedrooms, a relocated laundry room, and a third-floor walk-up finished into an open bonus room. An $80,000 inground pool sits in there too. P.J. Antonik runs it as a spec home builder and design team, and the one customer account with real detail fits that shape. A February 2017 buyer picked up one of his houses at 95% complete and catalogued what had been chosen: wide plank hardwood, a reclaimed wood bar, a sliding barn door, marble bathrooms, a bluestone patio. His point was that none of it had to be that good — entry-level would have sold the house — and that the punch-list items got finished fast. Two things to know before calling. First, the customer accounts are nine years old and thin: four reviews, all from January and February 2017, one of them written by a materials supplier who opens by admitting it is odd to review a customer. Second, on licensing — BuildZoom says it checked and found an active Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 200705, as of March 2026, and scores the company 99. That is the directory's check, not the state's. Houzz lists design-build work across Cohasset, Hingham, Hull, Marshfield and Norwell. Best fit for building new or gutting a whole house on the South Shore. Ask for references from the 2022 and 2023 permitted jobs — they are far more current than anything written about the company.
PJ purchased our home as a shell and completed the new construction. We bought the home when it was 95% completed. My wife and I loved every detail he selected including wide plank hardwood floors, reclaimed wood bar, sliding barn door, marble bathrooms, bluestone patio, and the overall color scheme which was purposely neutral to appeal to a wide audience was exactly what we wanted. He could have chosen entry level appliances and details and gotten away with it, but that's not his style. He does a great job with his industry knowledge, skills, and networking of adding quality touches for a fair price. We didn't interact much until the sale was finalized aside from some small punch list items which he was very quick to finish. My wife and I as first time home buyers have had several questions since we moved in and have been very impressed with his willingness to quickly respond with helpful answers. He likes to move fast and won't put off to tomorrow what he can accomplish today. Hearing stories from friends and family this is relatively rare in his industry and that combined with his great personality and attention to detail is why I connected him to my sister and her husband. He is currently building them a house and I won't hesitate to recommend him to anybody else in the future. Look no further if you need a trustworthy and hard working builder.
P.J. is the real deal. His worth ethic mixed with his creativity is so hard to come by. Typically you can find one quality or the other, P.J. has both. He is extremely professional as well as fun to work with. He is super excited about his work especially when you trust his vision...you will be amazed at what he comes up with. I can't recommend him enough.
It may seem odd reviewing a customer but seriously wish all my customers were like PJ. And it's a reflection of the kind of business and work he performs. Everything flowed seamlessly. Materials were ordered well ahead of time. P.J. reviewed all of the materials carefully for fit before ordering resulting in a salesperson's dream.....no returns! Seriously there were no hiccups on this job from our standpoint. I was personally able to visit the site and was extremely impressed not only with the quality of work but with seeing P.J.'s finished vision. There was no detail missed. The house is beautiful. Looking forward to many more projects with P.J.!
Working with Oak Development & Design is a special experience. It is not often you meet a team that works so flawlessly together, is incredibly professional (as well as fun), and hyper-responsive to their clients wants and needs. P.J. is creative, and knowledgeable, but always willing to listen. A seemingly never ending source of energy keeps this company running like a well oiled machine. Oak Development & Design comes highly recommended.
