Paul Walsh works alone. The BBB lists Ocean Aire Service Contractors as a one-person sole proprietorship run out of a PO box in East Weymouth, opened in January 2019, graded A+ and not accredited. On Angi the business claims 35 years of experience, which does not square with that 2019 start date. Everything customers have written dates from one stretch in early 2019, and four of the five are warm about the same thing: he turns up and fixes what someone else could not. In a February 2019 review a homeowner whose newly installed heat pump had failed, despite repeated return visits from the installer, said Paul came straight over and found the problem the others had missed. A January 2019 customer had an old blower motor replaced next-day after being told elsewhere the job was not worth touching. Another that month described him as knowledgeable, responsive and honest after years of trouble with a large Boston HVAC company. The fifth review is the one to read carefully. In January 2019 a customer gave half a star, saying the quoted thermostat price was extravagant on top of a service charge and an installation fee, that a part in the system was disconnected and bypassed, and that the system froze over and left them without heat until another company diagnosed it and ordered the part. The owner's public reply to that review is a lengthy personal attack on the customer rather than an account of the work — worth knowing before you count on how a dispute would go. Decent odds for a diagnostic call on a heat pump or an air conditioner nobody else has cracked. Agree the price for parts and labour before work starts, ask what happens if the fix does not hold, and bear in mind the written comments stop in February 2019.
I had another company install a new heat pump which didn t work, even after several calls to repair it. I called Paul at oceanaIre and he came over right away, fixed the problem that the others missed and was so kind and helpful. Highly recommend.
Owner Paul Walsh is the antidote to HVAC woes. After years of abysmal service from one of Boston s best known HVAC companies (which originally installed our entire system 5 years ago), we found Paul. He is knowledgeable, responsive, personable, and honest.
They were on time and they did the work without any wasted time. Clean and efficiently and very professional good quality products were chosen by Ocean Aire and installed great no damage to my resident or surrounding areas. Very pleasurable people to deal with.
These guys came down next day and got my old HVAC motor blower replaced where nobody else would touch it. Great communication and quick turnaround!
I would say the prices he stated for new thermostat was extravagant, and charged an additional service charge, and an additional installation fee. He disconnected and bypassed a part in my system which now my system is frozen. I had a sheet of ice over it. I am still waiting for the part to get my unit fixed and been without heat since Friday. Another company had to come out and determine the problem and order the part. I would not recommend him. Buyer beware.
