Ocean Aire Service Contractors is a one-person HVAC business in East Weymouth, MA, operated by Paul Walsh, who describes himself as a Master Technician with over 30 years in the trade and six years teaching HVAC at Bay State College. The website states the business has been locally owned since 1995, though BBB's registration records the current business entity as started in 2019 -- a gap worth asking about directly. The review record is genuinely mixed and, on the negative side, unusually specific. Several enthusiastic reviews from 2019 through 2025 describe Paul personally as knowledgeable, fair-priced, and quick to fix problems other companies wouldn't touch, with fast turnarounds and clear communication. Against that, a recurring and independently corroborated complaint pattern surfaces across 2021 to 2024: reviewers describe the company as hostile or unprofessional when asked to address a problem, and one detailed 2023 account describes a newly installed furnace and thermostat failing after six months, followed by a repeat service visit the reviewer characterized as high-pressure upselling. A 2019 review also describes overcharging and a system left non-functional after a repair; the owner's public response to that review was notably dismissive of the customer rather than addressing the technical complaint. Homeowners considering Ocean Aire should weigh the strong, specific praise from long-time customers against a real pattern of complaints about post-service follow-through and how disputes get handled -- it's worth asking directly about warranty terms and getting a written scope before work begins.
I had a horrible experience with a previous HVAC contractor. We contacted Ocean aire service and their team was amazing. They came out and resolved my problem. I can't thank Paul and his team. They are wonderful. I highly recommend them.
Paul and team were great! Highly recommend. Lots of expertise at a fair price.
If I could give zero stars I would. Avoid this company at all costs. Sketchy and not honest, run the other way!
Throw away account to protect my family. We lost heat in the winter and called a local contractor. He told us we needed a new furnace. In comes Ocean Aire. They installed a new thermostat and furnace. Worked ok for six months. Summer comes and we turn on the AC. AC works for a week and the whole system stops working. We call Ocean Aire for service. BIG MISTAKE. First off, four people show up for a service call. You may ask why? Because they are going to bully you into giving them money. I was told I needed to replace the thermostat and transformer. Why the thermostat? Because we were told WE changed the thermostat and WE broke the system. They start throwing numbers at us for the service. The total was near 1k. We declined. They demanded 150 dollars for diagnostics. When I asked for an invoice, they stormed out of the house and told me never to call them again. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. I found them to be aggressive and one of them was very creepy to my daughter. Don't let these people in your house. They are not trustworthy.
Very unprofessional, incompetent, and downright hostile when asked to fix an issue they created. Stay away from this firm at all costs.
