In a March 2026 Google review, a customer wrote that the plumber from Off Grid Mechanical got the job done the same day it was needed, with very little notice, and after finishing the plumbing work helped with an issue unrelated to plumbing. In January 2026 another customer wrote that TJ did the work on a water heater that needed to be squeezed into a closet, and was happy to answer questions along the way. In a February 2025 Google review, a customer then wrapping up a small addition, with hook-ups and drains for a dump sink, washing machine and a hot tub faucet, wrote that TJ and his son Steve show up when they say they will, lay down tarp runners each time, and on both visits when the driveway was unplowed stamped a path in the snow to the front door. The same customer said TJ talks through the pros and cons of copper versus pex, layout and fixtures, and that the price he quotes is the price you pay. A January 2025 review lists a run of jobs at one house: a new gas hot water heater, a deep well pressure tank and fittings, a new kitchen sink, old plumbing lines and metal drains replaced, and a new toilet, shower, tub and shower surround. Also in January 2025, a customer whose oil-fired hot air furnace quit called after hours on a weekend; TJ answered on the second ring, drove out to Amity, diagnosed the problem and got the furnace running. A third January 2025 customer, writing about an install, said the workers answered all their questions and cleaned up well, and recommended TJ and his crew for a new boiler. In May 2025 a reviewer wrote that Off Grid Mechanical handles all of their commercial plumbing needs. In a September 2022 Google review, a customer wrote that he started the job in June and was still fiddling with it in September, that they had no hot water the whole time, and that they fired him. A December 2024 one-star review says only "Not very friendly." On Google the business holds 4.5 stars from 17 ratings.
This guy is fantastic! I don’t know if he could hear the panic in my voice, but he made sure to get the job done the same day I needed it — and with very little notice. After finishing the plumbing work, he even helped me out with an issue totally unrelated to plumbing. 10/10 all around — highly recommend!
Very fast response time, knowledgeable and friendly service! Thank you again much appreciated!!!
Tj did Great work with a water heater that needed to be squeezed into a closet very professionally and happy to answer any questions that came up I would recommend off grid mechanical for water heater repair or replacement if your in need of service or replacement.
Off Grid Mechanical services all of my commercial plumbing needs. He's always quick to respond and get the job done asap. Fair pricing and work you can trust.
Where do I start? I have hired plumbers before and truthfully -- 99% of the time they have been fantastic. The plumbers I have hired have been professional and have done decent work. TJ and his son Steve are also professional . . . but they take the concept of "customer service" up several notches. It starts with excellent communications. Even if he is busy, TJ will always take the time to return your phone call. You're never left wondering if the Secretary passed along a message or if the voice mail somehow didn't log your message. If TJ is busy he'll let you know and give you an idea of when he can start the project. If it is a plumbing emergency (i.e. such as our water heater failing) and he cannot carve out the time to help, he'll let you know . . . and recommend several other local plumbers in the area. And if you have scheduled service or time for a project, he'll let you know he's on his way. In other words . . . TJ keeps you informed and you're never left guessing as to whether he will be there or not. Punctuality: I get it. Things happen. A customer calls with a frozen pipe . . . or a broken pipe. A flat tire or an unexpected family emergency. I don't expect 100% punctuality, but honestly I have yet to find that TJ and Steve don't show up exactly when they say they're going to . . . if not before . . . and if something does come up I know full well I would get a phone call informing me of the delay. Cleanliness: It's The County . . . and it's Winter. When it snows about every day and there are a couple of inches in the driveway that I need to snowblow when work is done I expect some snow and dirt to be tracked into the house. With Off Grid Mechanical that will not happen. Each and every time they take the time to lay down tarp runners . . . and both times when my driveway was unplowed they took the time to stamp a pathway in the snow to the front door to minimize the mess. It's little things like this which are noticed and appreciated. The customer is always right: OK, maybe the customer isn't always right, but I've noticed that TJ may be his own worse critic when it comes to his work. Stuff that doesn't bother me one iota annoys him because it's not up to his own personal and professional standards. This is a case where it's nice to find a professional who takes pride in his work. That said, he works with the customer to make sure he does what they want . . . do they want to use copper vs. pex? No problem. Do they prefer pex over copper? No worries. What type of fittings do they want? TJ actually takes the time to talk to you as a customer and outlines the pros- and cons- of the plumbing project in terms of pipe type, lay-out, fixtures, etc. and doesn't just give you the customer what he thinks you want or what he is most familiar with in terms of products. Finally . . . TJ is a straight shooter. If he quotes you a price that's the price you'll pay . . . unless (of course) you decide to add another half dozen fixtures, re-route half of the plumbing, etc. ' Speaking of pricing . . . TJ's pricing is quite fair and I would guess equitable to most other plumbers in the area. We're currently wrapping up a small addition project with hook-ups and drains for a dump sink, washing machine and faucet for our hot tub. When we get ready to do our downstairs bathroom remodel I can guarantee you that TJ and Steve will be returning. . . . P.S. I read through the reviews here and there are two negative reviews. TJ is easily one of the most easy-going guys I have met and I can assure you if someone finds anything negative with him or his services it's not TJ -- it's them!
