A Florence homeowner with a 1910 house found their insurer had stopped tolerating the active knob-and-tube wiring. In a November 2025 review they described shopping the job around and landing on Orchard Electric to rip it out and rewire. That is the kind of work this company keeps turning up in: the awkward, old-house, must-be-done-right jobs in the Connecticut River valley. Orchard has been at it since 1987 — the BBB records 39 years — and the Massachusetts registry lists electrician licence 22802 as active in Kevin Kochapski's name. The company's own site says it is veteran-owned and covers residential, commercial and industrial work across Western Massachusetts and Vermont, with 24/7 availability and generators supplied as well as installed. BuildZoom's permit database shows 240 permitted projects and scores the firm in the top 9% of Massachusetts licensed contractors. What customers describe most is problem-solving under pressure. A 2022 reviewer had an underground service cable fail between the street and the house; Kevin's team came the same day, then spent several days coordinating the power company, an excavator and the homeowner to lay new cable. In 2021 another had a service mast and meter destroyed by falling trees and needed both replaced before power could be restored — the crew reshuffled its schedule and worked with the utility directly. The other recurring note is restraint about billing. In June 2026 a customer said Orchard diagnosed a tripping outlet another company had installed and recommended the smaller, cheaper repair; a 2025 reviewer said a technician talked them through fixing something themselves rather than sending an invoice. Reviewers name the people — Kevin, Jeremy, Tyler, Vandeem — which is what a stable crew looks like from outside. Worth knowing: every customer account sits on Google, and its BBB page is unclaimed and carries no rating. Ask for local references on work like yours if that matters to you. For rewiring an old house, a storm-damaged service, or a generator, this is a straightforward call.
These guys are the best! Clean efficient on time aware of peoples home and surroundings respectful Vandeem installed ceiling fan quickly and with no mess highly recommended ask for Kevin the owner super nice guy
Fantastic experience with Orchard, they installed a fully customized system for my new business. Everything was done quickly and the price was very reasonable. Thank you!
Orchard Electric has been great to work with. We used another company to install and outlet which kept tripping. Orchard was able to diagnose the issue and fix it quickly. They gave us sound advice that resulted in less work (money) for them. I appreciate that I didn't feel like they were selling me up on anything, instead gave honest advice on what they would do in their own home. We will only go with them in the future.
Fantastic service. Attention to detail and quality of work is outstanding. Highly recommend!!
I thought I had not paid a bill and found out that I had and the office team were superb in helping a somewhat of a Luddite clarify and set up payment for the next invoices. They are friendly, responsive and very understanding. Hats Off!!
