P & M Locksmith is a family-run shop in Woburn that customers reach for the odd, after-hours job — a jammed antique doorknob, a bike-rack lock with a lost key on a holiday Friday, a house that needs rekeying the same day it closes. The Minghella family says it has been serving the Greater Boston area for more than 45 years. On Google the shop holds a 4.6-star average across 62 ratings, and the pattern across nearly thirty reviews stretching back to 2021 is speed and personal attention. Techs named Mark and Phil come up by name review after review — taking apart and cleaning antique lock mechanisms, swapping locks for a new Woburn resident, and once replacing a car ignition on the spot using nothing but the screwdriver trick the customer had used to start it. One reviewer pointed out it's one of the few locksmiths in the area with an actual storefront, since most competitors work mobile or out of a kiosk. A recent review describes a Friday-night door-handle failure getting a temporary fix from Phil's son the next morning while a matching commercial-grade replacement was ordered. A few things are worth asking about before booking. A recent, August 2026 review described being charged an additional service call fee on top of the original quote that wasn't expected going in — worth confirming what a quote covers up front. A 2024 review said the shop is roughly a 50/50 shot on having the exact key blank needed in stock. And in a 2023 review, one customer described the owner as rude and reported aggressive dogs running loose around the shop — a sharply different account from the otherwise consistent praise for friendly, patient service. A 2026 Reddit thread backs up the repeat-customer pattern, with one commenter saying they'd used P&M several times and had been pleased, noting the shop had relocated from Arlington to Woburn some years back. P & M is a solid call for an odd or antique lock, a same-day rekey, or an after-hours lockout — just get the price for any repair work in writing before they start, and don't assume they'll have every specialty key blank on the shelf.
“I’ve used [P&M Locksmith](https://pmlockinc.com) out of Woburn quite a few times, been very pleased. They used to be closer to Arlignton, but had to move office space a number of years ago. Also, if you just want to get new keys, you can typically remove the cylinders and bring them to the shop rather than having someone visit. Saves time and money.”
The most-used entry door handle to my home failed on a Friday evening, and I called up Phil because I tried to repair it myself and only made it worse. He sent out his son on Saturday morning to replace it with a temporary one while he ordered an almost identical commercial-grade replacement. Phil came out on Tuesday and installed the new door handle, and my family couldn't be happier. Thank you, P & M Locksmith.
It was very expensive to make my house look nice, and they also charged an additional service call fee that I wasn’t expecting, especially considering the price I was originally quoted.
Excellent work. Stopped in late on a Friday of a holiday weekend because I misplaced the keys for a bike rack and the lock was opened like a pro in no time! Great local business!
The door to my Nana's bathroom got locked shut so we called P&M. Mark came to the house within 2 hours and he was able to carefully remove the locking mechanism from the doorknob. He knows how to service antique locks
They are busy for a reason!!! They know what they are doing !!! lots of fake locksmiths out there. Worth the wait I was doing non emergency repair.
