In June 2026 a customer was charged $282 to fix a cold water line and wrote that $180 of it was the fee for the plumber walking in the door, with a dispatch charge on top. In May 2026 another was quoted $735 to swap a single thermostat, with no itemization; when his wife declined, she was told she owed the $180 visit fee, which nobody had mentioned at booking. He noted the technician himself was fine. A Reddit commenter in 2025 said Paradigm had tried to convince his spouse that an entire toilet needed replacing at $1,100 in labor — though another commenter in that same thread said he had used Paradigm since Steve started the business and always found them good to deal with. The wider picture is friendlier than that handful of written accounts: 4.4 stars across 221 Google ratings, and a BBB page carrying accreditation since 2007 and an A+. A sound call for a boiler, a water service or sewer lateral, or anything where you want a licensed shop with depth behind it. Ask what the visit fee is and whether it is credited toward the work, and get any quote past a few hundred dollars itemized before you agree to it.
