Darel Parent has been doing electrical work out of Melrose since 2012, and the 36 reviews spanning 2023 through this year describe someone homeowners call back again and again — one says he's been her family's first call for electrical issues "for over ten years." The jobs range from routine to serious: relocating an exterior breaker panel and following up with the city inspector to confirm it passed code, installing a subpanel to run a new electric pool heater, wiring an EV charger in a single morning, and, in one review, rebuilding electrical service across four floors after a house fire. A reviewer who identified as a licensed electrician hired him for her own home and wrote that he "goes above and beyond" at fair prices. Response time comes up over and over: a Sunday-afternoon call about a problem that could have caused a fire got a same-day fix, and one customer says he showed up 15 minutes after a voicemail to sort out a Nest thermostat's power connection. Several reviewers mention he found and fixed a secondary issue at no extra charge while doing the job they'd actually called him for. One family met him already on a job site — a builder had hired him to wire their new-construction home, and they came away glad it had been him. His own site describes a wider menu than the reviews alone show — panel upgrades, generator hookups, CCTV wiring — across a service area stretching from Stoneham and Wakefield to Arlington and Burlington. Angi lists him as an Approved pro with a self-reported trade license (#50702, expiring 2028); that's the business's own claim to the directory, not something checked against the state registry. For anything from a stuck outlet to a full panel relocation, Parent Electric's reviews point to speed and follow-through as the calling card, and there's nothing negative in the record to flag before booking.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Parent-electric. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
Standard receptacle swaps — a new dedicated circuit is a bigger job ($350–$750).
Flush mounts, pendants, chandeliers — hung on existing boxes.

After a whole-house fire we needed to rebuild 4 floors from top to bottom. Darel was a total life saver - helped us with everything from teeny tiny to giant crises and was incredibly helpful, responsive, and reasonable. We came in blind and hoped for the best, but will use him for literally all of our electrical needs from here out, hands down.
Darel helped us with several electrical projects around the house, including upgrading all the interior outlets and handling a more complicated project involving moving the exterior breaker panel to a different location. This required a great deal of knowledge and expertise, which Darel clearly has. He also followed up with the city inspector to make sure everything was completed professionally and up to code. All the work was done neatly, professionally, with great attention to detail. We are extremely happy with the results and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a quality electrical work at a fair price.
Darel is excellent all around. Quick to quote, communicated well, and did great work; fixed old wiring along the way.
