Pellegrino Construction

Twenty homeowners wrote about Mike Pellegrino's roofing crew, and two words keep coming back: responsive, and clean. One 2013 customer said he could not find a single roofing nail in the yard afterwards. The catch: every one of those accounts was written between 2012 and 2015. Pellegrino Construction is Michael Pellegrino's own shop, a three-person sole proprietorship that BBB records as starting in January 2002. BBB lists it at 377 Elliot St in Newton; HomeAdvisor lists it in Billerica; both print the same number, (978) 771-1211. Roofing comes first - new installations, replacements and repairs, in asphalt, rubber and copper - alongside seamless gutters, downspouts and siding, and the company also takes on new construction and additions. Those older accounts are unusually specific about money and process. A September 2013 customer in Groveland took three quotes, said Mike's was the lowest, and singled out a 50-year warranty against the 10 years the other two offered. An August 2013 reviewer itemised a $7,500 quote - tear-off, ice and water shield six feet up, felt underlayment, ridge vent, new pipe flanges, re-leading the chimney, dumpster and disposal - and said the roof and gutters took two and a half days. A January 2014 customer had 3,000 square feet of shingles done over four days, then had Mike return twice on next-day service to chase a skylight leak. Several reviewers that year noted he tried a caulk-and-see repair before selling a replacement, one of them at no charge. Not every job landed. A 2013 customer who paid to have a flat roof re-pitched gave two stars: the rubber work was fine and the price decent, but he said water still sat on the roof for four or five days, and that after repeated promises to come back and look at it, three or four months passed with no visit and no call. A December 2013 reviewer, otherwise positive, said weather delays went uncommunicated and email replies were slow. Its Better Business Bureau page carries an A+ grade, though the business is not BBB accredited. The thing to establish before calling is the present. The written history runs 2012 to 2015, so ask for references from roofs finished in the last year or two, confirm which address the business now works from, and ask for its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration number so you can check it against the state yourself. For a straightforward asphalt tear-off and replacement in the Boston suburbs, the older accounts describe exactly the crew you would want.
