Pine Cone Construction Inc

Pine Cone Construction is a Newton builder whose work shows up first in permits: BuildZoom counts 105 permitted projects under the company's name and scores the profile 92. Its own site names Chris Utano, Frank Utano and Danielle Lacolla as the partners behind it. The work sits at the heavier end of residential construction — custom homes, additions, renovations and outdoor living projects out of Newton, with accessory dwelling units and universal design added on its Houzz listing, where six projects are shown. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, #177773, is active. The Better Business Bureau grades it A+ and lists 20 years in business. In a June 2025 review, a customer praised the crew and thought more of the workmanship still. One thing to raise when you call: Violation Tracker lists a $7,950 penalty against Pine Cone Construction, Inc. for a workplace safety violation dated March 28, 2002. It is old enough to be history rather than current practice, but a homeowner putting a crew on their roofline can reasonably ask how the company runs site safety today. For a Newton-area addition, an ADU or a ground-up house, this is a builder with a long permit trail and a current registration. Ask to walk a recent job, get the schedule and the allowances written into the contract, and find out which of the partners will be running your project day to day.
