Pink Bin Sanitation is a small, family-owned curbside trash and recycling subscription service in Salem, New Hampshire, run by Dave and Christine Rosa since 2023. They started the company after the local hauler they used was bought out by a larger regional company — a story that echoes through a long stretch of reviews from customers who made the same switch, many of them naming Casella specifically as the competitor they left. The volume and consistency of the praise here stand out: from 2023 through the summer of 2026, review after review describes the same things — a truck that never misses a pickup, weekly rather than biweekly recycling, and a real person answering the phone or email instead of an automated system. Customers repeatedly mention getting advance notice by email when a holiday shifts the schedule, and several say they pay noticeably less than they did with a larger competitor while getting better, more consistent service. A handful of reviews also mention the company donating to causes like breast cancer research when bins are purchased. It isn't a spotless record. In a May 2026 review, a customer described a mix-up over a scheduled pickup — the bins were reportedly out and visible, but the driver said the street hadn't been served that day, and the pickup didn't happen. A February 2024 review said the owner declined to sell an additional bin and called the customer service poor. Both are outliers against a run of dozens of five-star reviews describing the opposite experience, but worth knowing about. Google currently shows 4.9 stars from 128 ratings. The business is explicit that it doesn't handle bulk-item pickup — it's a weekly curbside subscription service, not a one-time hauling job — so anyone looking for a single big cleanout should confirm that before signing up.
“Pink Sanitation has been a great service. They communicate well which I love, and they're a small business with a cause.”
Pink Bin Sanitation has been great to work with. They’re easy to reach whenever I have a question, always show up on time, and never leave any trash behind. They even take the extra step to line the bins back up neatly just the way they were. Highly recommend!
I like the service above all. Yet, the extras such as great communication on if service is interrupted due to a holiday or snowstorm etc is done perfectly as well.
Bins were out the night before for pick up. Saw the truck on our street in the morning and the woman I spoke to kept telling me the bins weren’t out so they didn’t come down this side of the street. THE BINS ARE BRIGHT PINK AND WERE OUT. I called to ask why my bins weren’t picked up she continued to call me a liar stating the bins weren’t out there. She said my two options were a $30 pick up charge to come back out or wait until next week. Terrible customer service, I wouldn’t recommend this company to any Salem residents. Will be using the dump since all of the garbage companies in this area offer poor service sadly.
PINK BIN has been great! They show up week after week and goodby trash!!
Last summer, I called to see if I could get trash service with the infamous pink bins, but there was one glitch, I lived in Windham. They did not have a contract to go into that area unfortunately. What did I do? I moved to Salem and now have pink bins!!!!!!Great service
