Two recent Google reviews of this Rowley pool company tell almost opposite stories, and with only three written reviews on file, both carry weight. Platinum Pools Corp. works the Massachusetts North Shore out of 16 Central St, selling, installing and maintaining above-ground and in-ground pools, liners, covers and spas. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, and BuildZoom names Vernon Bell as the owner. The good story is specific. A homeowner writing in June 2026 called about a skimmer that wouldn't draw water at pool opening; the crew — which the reviewer described as a father-and-son team — came out the next day, traced it to a valve, and took the time to walk through the whole system and how to open and close it. A 2022 review is warmer but vaguer, thanking them for help in a pinch. The other story is the one to ask about. In a review posted at the end of July 2026, a customer said they were charged for chemicals they believe were never added to their pool, and that when they raised it by phone they were yelled at and accused of lying; they also described a staff member shouting in their backyard. It is the most recent thing anyone has written about the company. Beyond service calls, Houzz describes a year-round department handling liner replacements, openings and closings, in-season repairs, heater and safety-cover installs and weekly maintenance. BuildZoom's one sampled permit is a $9,000 above-ground pool installation in Newburyport, pulled in May 2019. Four projects on Houzz, one permit on BuildZoom, three reviews total — a small operation with a shallow written trail behind it. If you're on the North Shore and want a local shop for an opening, a liner or weekly service, they're a reasonable call. Get the chemical and service charges itemized in writing before the season starts.
