Precision Pool Construction, Inc. is an Amesbury, Massachusetts pool company at 83 Haverhill Road that builds custom in-ground swimming pools and then keeps them running — openings, closings, cleanings, liner replacements and equipment work — alongside a hot tub and pool-supply store. The Better Business Bureau's file gives a business start of 1 January 2003 and incorporation on 19 May 2003, lists five employees, and names Sean Canning as president, Ruth Ann Stevens as business manager and Matt Canning as administrator. The credential picture is unusually clean for this trade. Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor registration 193031 is verified active against the state registry and is held in the company's own name, Precision Pool Construction, Inc. The BBB has accredited the business since January 2013 and grades it A+, and Houzz's profile carries a Certified Pool Operator line from the National Swimming Pool Foundation. What customers praise is consistent and specific rather than generic. Google carries 4.6 stars from 77 ratings, and the reviews on file run from 2021 to 2026 with several long, first-hand accounts: a 2026 customer of more than fifteen years describes inground openings that come back with clear water where a previous company left three weeks of algae; a 2025 reviewer describes a difficult install below an upper street that needed the pool craned in, with the company coordinating landscapers and utilities; a 2022 reviewer describes a leak repair that avoided the full liner replacement they had expected. Staff are named again and again — Dennis in the store, Matt on site — which is the signature of a small business people actually deal with rather than a call centre. The complaints are worth reading before you sign. A June 2026 reviewer reported two months of chasing and three no-call, no-show appointments; a July 2026 reviewer was surprised that cleaning was not part of the pool opening they had paid for; an August 2024 reviewer called the service incompetent; and a July 2022 reviewer said only half their pool was vacuumed and that a manager was defensive rather than remedial when they complained. Two of the fifteen reviews from the last six months are negative, so the scheduling and scope-of-service friction is current, not historical. One outside note: Boston 25 News reported in April 2017 that an Amesbury pool company it called "precision pool" offered to build a pool free of charge for a Northbridge family whose deposit had been taken by a different, unrelated contractor. That is press coverage of a donation, not a review of paid work, and it is reported here as the outlet's account rather than as a verified fact about this company's standard of service. Practically: get the scope of an opening or closing in writing (what is and is not included), confirm the appointment window before the season fills up, and ask who your site contact will be. The registration and the long, named-staff review history are real; the friction people report is about communication and scope, not about the pools themselves.
“Precision Pool offered to build a pool in the Marston’s backyard for free after FOX25 reported on the family’s story.”
“ds that therapy and without a pool, I can’t get it done,” Mike Marston explained. The Marstons found Trifone online, signed a contract and paid him little by little until the project was paid in full. But Trifone never delivered the pool.We were there Sunday as precision pool of Amesbury began pouring the concrete. They offered to install the pool for free after they saw the Marstons’ story on Boston 25 News.Meanwhile, the Marstons reported Trifone to the police.Monday, police told us they issued a summons for him to appear in Uxbridge next month. We had a wonderful experience purchasing our tub through Precision Pools. We are about to take our first plunge. Working with Dennis was a true pleasure… Low pressure but very responsive to all of our endless questions. The pool arrived ahead of schedule and was delivered very soon thereafter, and promptly on the day that we arranged for installation. Dennis arrived the following day as the electrician Was completing the hook up. He filled the tub, showing us how to do it properly and how to administer the limited chemicals that are necessary. A seamless experience Looking forward to getting into the spa now!
I was happy in the beginning with their ability to open my pool at the beginning of the season. However I did not know that cleaning was not apart of the opening service I paid for, but when I reached back out I was able to schedule an appointment to do so. It was frustrating not being able to use my pool from the initial opening. But we moved on and tried cleaning it ourselves but was unsuccessful with our vacuum, that ended up being broken and put air into the line. We did not know at the time that the vac was broken and that air was the problem so we went on with scheduling a cleaning. The pool tech came to my home and assessed the pump to get it back on and said that the entire pump needed to be replaced. It would have costed me $2,800 and $350 for service fee. Very expensive. long story short I ended up getting a second opinion and my pumped worked perfectly fine. It had air in the line that was an easy fix and now my pool is operating as normal. I think if their tech took his time to assess every avenue as to what was stalling my high tech pump, it could have been dealt with sooner.
Great people! Very helpful! Denis was great at helping to get the right stuff for my pool!
The store front at is back open!!! Thrilled about this!! These guys are so great, and Dennis was extremely helpful.
Poor communication. I’ve been contacting and reaching out to installer and company for almost 2 months . 3 no cal no shows on appointments . Not the most professional experience.
