Pools By Murphy LLC builds, renovates and services in-ground pools from Durham, and the company says it has been in business for 57 years. A recent customer said Pools by Murphy built their Gunite, lagoon-style pool twenty years ago, and when the customer found cracks in the Gunite on opening the pool, the company came out and renovated all of the Gunite at no cost. A customer who had a pool resurfaced said the work started ahead of schedule. A customer whose pool the company installed 11 years ago said it just re-plastered that pool in a timely manner. A 2024 customer said Rich Rosa showed up the day after being contacted, and a crew replastered the pool and put in new tiles and coping in four consecutive rain-free days. A 2025 customer said the company found a way to put a pool in a yard where septic made it hard. A 2025 customer said Pools by Murphy has always serviced the pool it built for them, now in its 14th year. A recent customer said no one called or showed up for a scheduled appointment. A 2024 customer said no one came to a scheduled estimate for a new in-ground pool and no one called back. A 2025 customer said worms were left in the pool at opening and an algae-bloom cleanup was left half done. A 2025 customer said that after a meeting to quote a new plaster job, the company decided not to do service work on non-Murphy pools. A 2022 customer who paid to rehab a pool and patio said a court ordered the company to pay back damages, and that the customer was in year 3 of trying to collect. A 2022 customer said two years of calls about a spa wall that was falling apart brought no one out to look at repairs.
Customer service is not dead if you hire the right company. Twenty years ago, Pools by Murphy created our gorgeous Gunite, lagoon-style pool with lots of stonework and a waterfall from the hot tub into the pool. We've enjoyed our pool for decades without incident, but upon opening it this year, we discovered cracks in the Gunite. Pools by Murphy promptly came out and completely renovated all of the Gunite at no cost. It is a new pool for us to enjoy without worry for many more decades as the lifetime warranty still stands. In this day where customer service seems dead, it was refreshing to have a company honor its word without a fight. Also, Rich and his team were a pleasure to deal with. We decided to do additional stonework and will hire them again for future work. Thanks Rich and Pools by Murphy!

Last fall we met with Rich from Murphy and scheduled our pool to be resurfaced. To our surprise they were able to start ahead of schedule. From last years quote to the installation they have been nothing but professional. We are thrilled! We're already planning our first pool party!
