Pope Cabinets

I met with Jason Hammer, of Pope Cabinetry, the fall of 2016 to layout plans for a large kitchen remodel the following spring. The scope of work included removing all existing cabinets, counters, back splash, appliances and floors. Our family of 4 loves to cook (our daughter was a contestant on Master Chef Junior), and our goal was to make the space more functional for the entire family to cook. At our first meeting, Jason quickly translated my vision to paper. If was immediately clear that not only is Jason a good listener, but that he has an engineering and design brain, and can take a verbal concept and sketch it onto paper. I am very detailed, and often Jason would gently remind me of details I forgot! We had Pope Cabinetry rebuild an existing cherry island that was added in 2006. The island had 2 narrows tiers and a tiny bar sink. We had Pope Cabinetry make it into one level and add 8" of depth to it, adding much more counter space. Upper cabinets were eliminated and replaced with open shelving. We added new uppers flanking the stove for spices and glasses. And a large floor to ceiling cabinet is being built to store my kid's countless appliances: a deep fryer, crock pot, rice cooker, ice cream maker, pasta machine, waffle maker, panini press, etc..... I felt so confident in Pope Cabinetry's abilities, that I left Jason with my keys, and took off for Asia for 2.5 weeks. I left a gutted kitchen, and came back to a gorgeous custom kitchen. We are still waiting on custom designed encaustic tiles to arrive from the far east (14 week leadtimes). This field tile will go on the vaulted wall (by stove), in laundry room and butler's pantry. Pope Cabinets did an incredible job on my custom built-in cabinet. They worked with me to create custom cabinets to suit my unique needs in my Boston condo. I provided a design and Pope Cabinets made recommendations combining their expertise and my needs. They crafted the cabinet much faster than I expected and I absolutely love it. I primarily worked with Jason and Larry - both of whom were extremely professional, personable and helpful. Larry even decided to go the extra mile and fashioned a pulley system to bring the countertop up the outside of the building to avoid cutting it. Thank you Pope Cabinets! My wife and I hired Pope Cabinets to create a custom built-ins set of shelving for our entertaining area. We worked by phone and email to trade photos, ideas, and measurements of the space, and then went the shop to see the cabinets and select the wood that would be used for the counter, including some gorgeous walnut that looks great against the white shelving and doors. Jason was great to work with and went the extra mile to help us refine our initial design to meet our goals and totally transform the space. The finish, materials, and craftsmanship were first rate, and we would certainly recommend Pope Cabinets to anyone looking for custom built-ins.

Jason Hammer built a major addition to our home in Gloucester and did a great job in a timely manner at a competitive price. Near the end of the project he acquired Pope Cabinets where his true passion lies. One of the major reason for the addition was to add storage to a house built originally as summer home. As such, cabinetry and built in storage were a major piece of the project. A big piece of the addition was a large family room. In that room he incorporated an existing cabinet and expanded it 3X to beautifully accommodate our needs efficiently and economically. He also built a kitchen island that filled our wish list and blended in perfectly with the existing cabinets. The result was a far more functional kitchen with and esthetically perfect island. He also outfitted the Master bedroom closet fitting in the long list needs into the available space for a good price. Finally, Jason is a pleasure to work with and has followed up with little things well after the last bill was paid. My wife and I recommend him highly.
