Portsmouth Quality Flooring sells and installs flooring out of 223 Winthrop Ave in Lawrence — the former Albrite Carpets space, which an October 2024 reviewer described as newly remodeled and stocked with samples for everything you can imagine. What customers write about is the people. Several 2025 reviewers name Steven on the sales floor: one, writing in May 2025, had new flooring laid over an older tile floor in the family room after he walked them through the options; another, in June 2025, picked carpet with him and said the installation team worked to get the install right. A July 2025 reviewer said they had been working with Steven at the Lawrence store for more than 50 years. The crews get named too. Dave and Mike fabricated and installed stairway runners for a December 2025 customer. Jason J and Coen pulled out old carpet in a July 2025 job, and Kevin M and Jason J handled deliveries in two other July 2025 reviews, one describing the drop as quick and neat. When a family needed a child's bedroom carpet replaced in a hurry in September 2025, the store answered the call and came out the next day. A January 2025 buyer mentioned never feeling pressured, from the first questions through delivery and install. On Google the company holds 5 stars across 16 ratings, with written reviews running through 2024 and 2025. If you want to handle samples before you buy — carpet, stair runners, flooring laid over an existing floor — this is a showroom-first outfit whose installers customers know by name. Ask who will be doing your install and when the material actually lands, and have the subfloor prep spelled out in the quote.
Great fabrication and installation of stairway runners by Dave and Mike. It looks and feels great. We’re happy we did it. So thanks to the team at Portsmouth Quality Flooring (Steve, Dave,Mike).

Jason J and Coen did a great job removing the old carpet
We’ve been working with Steven in the Lawrence, MA store for more than 50 years and he’s truly exceptional with his knowledge of carpeting and flooring and always makes the perfect recommendation! His communication and follow-up is also unmatched as he always goes the extra mile to make sure we’re happy with the end result. The installer, Matthew, couldn’t have more professional or skilled. The end result of our new wall-to-wall carpet is fabulous! Thanks to all at Portsmouth Quality Flooring for the great experience. Lisa and Clarkson Williams, Andover, MA
