A December 2023 storm took the power out on a whole street in one customer's New England town; their Generac turned on immediately, and they wrote that the house stayed "warm and toasty" while the rest of the street was dark. That is the job Power Now Generators gets hired for.
The Hull, Massachusetts company says it has been at this since 2005 — 21 years in business by its own count — selling, installing, servicing and repairing home standby and portable generators across brands on the South Shore, with a second office in Palm Beach County, Florida. Its owners say they came to it from an AAA-approved RV collision and mechanical repair shop. In the reviews the owner shows up by name: Jason, from 2017 accounts through January 2024.
What customers describe is the whole arc, not just the install. Several writing in late 2023 and January 2024 talk about twice-a-year service visits — one January 2024 reviewer said the unit "snaps on in 5 seconds after the utility power is cut" and that Power Now inspects every six months. In a November 2023 review, a couple who bought a house with a generator they said hadn't been serviced in nearly a decade asked the team to bring it up to par, and said they did. A September 2023 review describes a whole-house install done by his crew of plumbers and an electrician.
The older accounts are more mechanical and just as specific. A September 2017 reviewer watched him break down and clean a carburetor gummed up with gas residue on a Generac portable, explaining the work as he went; an August 2017 reviewer had a 25KW serviced on a Saturday, where a load transfer test turned up a breaker switch that was not in the ON position. In a September 2020 Thumbtack review, a customer said he arrived exactly as scheduled and was careful to check problems before moving ahead with repairs that might not be needed.
The sharp exception is a one-star Angi review from August 2017. That customer said the repair made the situation worse, that he suggested buying an oven roasting pan to catch oil dripping from the generator, that they waited a month while additional parts were ordered, and that he told them he does not answer his phone or return e-mails.
The written accounts run 2015 to 2024 — 5 stars from 34 Google ratings, 4.9 from 194 on Angi — alongside an A+ grade at the Better Business Bureau. If you want a standby unit put in and then kept on a schedule, this is that kind of shop. Ask what the twice-yearly visit covers and how they handle a repair that waits on ordered parts, which is where the 2017 complaint went wrong.
