PRESTO CARPENTRY PAINTING ROOFING

Presto Carpentry Painting Roofing has been John Makris's shop for 28 years, by the count on its Better Business Bureau profile, and the name undersells it. The job list runs from slate and wood shake roofing through gutters, replacement windows and doors, general carpentry, interior and exterior painting, and hardwood, kitchen and bathroom floor installation. The company shows up as Prides Crossing on its BBB page and Beverly on Houzz, and both directories carry an A+ rating. The credentials there are listings rather than registry checks: Houzz shows a home improvement contractor registration (HIC #153422) and a construction supervisor licence (CSSL #100452) for the business, along with EPA Renovate, Repair and Paint, OSHA and GAF roofing-installer certifications. Neither profile shows customer reviews, so what is public rests on what the company lists about itself. Ask Makris for those two licence numbers in writing and check them against the state registry before signing anything. Slate and wood shake sit at the specialist end of roofing, so it is worth asking who on the crew does that work and for the addresses of the last few he finished. Presto fits a homeowner who wants the roof, the gutters and the painting that follows handled by one company, and who is content to judge the work on references collected directly.
