Pricerite Oil and Propane LLC of Watertown, CT delivers home heating oil, and a customer who ordered oil in June said it never arrived and that the owner's reimbursement check bounced. A customer who paid for oil in May said that by mid-September calls went unanswered at any hour. A customer who placed and paid for an order on August 20 said the September 3 delivery never came, and a delivery promised for September 4 did not arrive either. A customer who went to the office was told it had stopped delivering to New Britain, and said the refund promised within 7 to 10 business days never came. A customer said their parents, over 80, paid upfront for oil and were then told the company no longer delivers to their area. A customer who ordered on June 11 was told the owners were waiting on licenses. A customer who had used the company for many years wrote that it is going out of business and telling no one. A customer also wrote that the company represented itself as A+ BBB accredited and that the BBB showed it was not accredited. A customer of almost four years said they get text messages during the heating season about ordering early and how many weeks out the company is booking, and had never had a bad experience, though some deliveries were delayed. A 2023 customer said their card was charged for 300 gallons when 184 were delivered, and that the office manager refused the refund. A 2023 customer said a delivery missed its scheduled day because of truck issues and arrived at almost 9 pm the following day. “I've gotten lower prices from PriceRite Oil when paying in cash and ordering over 500 gallons.”
“If it's the same PriceRite Oil I use, I've always gotten a good price for cash deliveries over 500 gallons.”
“Now it seems they have too many customers for their size.”
“I've used PriceRite for years and have been happy. I just received a delivery two weeks ago and I did have a couple glitches.”
“pricerite has an active license, so you could make a complaint to DCP and see where that goes”
Edit: company has gone through ownership changes and no longer reliable. Amazing how they can go from 5 stars to 1. I was a consistent customer. I haven't used another oil company for 6 years and don't plan to now. Their ordering system is super easy, they always show up when they say they will, their customer service is awesome and always reply to my FB messages. The pricing is great for a family owned business.
Until four months ago, this company was good company. I had no issues with this company. I ordered oil three months ago they never delivered the oil. I called the company about the oil never delivered. They said waiting on permits, the oil was going to be delivered in a few weeks. Then I called in a few weeks no answer. I decided to go to the Company the secretary there told me that they stopped delivering to New Britain. So they were gonna refund me back the money to wait 7 to 10 business days but no money was refunded back. I started calling the company and no answer so I decided to go back to the company. The same lady was there. She said that they gonna give me a check that she was gonna call me back the next day but she never called me back the next day so I call back and they put me on hold for two hours. The girl that answered me was very rude to me and told me that the check was on his way. I been very patient waiting for my refund back. It is so frustrating
I wouldn’t even give them 1 star but it was the only way to leave a review. I paid almost $600.00 for a delivery on 7/2, today is 9/18…. No oil, no refund. My calls go unreturned, I’m left on hold(when they actually answer) I’m sure they have caller id and don’t want to hear from me. I’ve been working with Consumer Protection and even they are struggling to get numerous refunds for customers. Get your fuel elsewhere, they will take your money, promise delivery and not come! Zero stars from me!!
Has anyone been able to contact this company recently? I have paid for oil back in May, have been reassured that oil would be delivered numerous times, and now it’s mid September and no matter what time I call, no answers. Up until this issue, this was a good company and I had no issues.
I would give zero stars if possible. Took a deposit on 200 gallons of oil, with a fill expected back in the beginning of July 2026. It is now mid September and I have not received my oil. They keep giving me future dates of delivery. It never happens. Do not order oil from these people. I waited on hold for an hour and a half no one ever got back to me. No one returned my voicemails. Nothing. The price of oil keeps rising. So now I have to pay hundreds more. Don’t take my money if you can’t make your deliveries. This is theft. People are struggling to pay bills to keep their families with hot water. Do not use this company.
