Professional Oil and HVAC is a one-name-you-call operation in Winthrop -- David Bomarsi, working oil furnaces, boilers and HVAC systems himself with a small crew (reviews also name Michael, Derek, Jose and James as team members). The story that keeps repeating, across dozens of reviews from 2023 through early 2026, is the opposite of an upsell: in a 2025 review, a homeowner said four other companies quoted $15,000 to $25,000 to replace a dead A/C during a heat wave, and David fixed the actual problem -- a blown motor -- in under an hour for less than $300. In a 2024 review, a customer said he ran a leak check and repair instead of pushing a new system after a "large national company" said a full replacement was needed. That pattern of doing only what's needed shows up in smaller ways too. In a 2024 review, David helped a customer track down a hard-to-find, outdated pressure switch from a licensed-technician-only supplier rather than take the job himself and mark up an unnecessary repair -- without charging for his time. In a 2026 review, a first-time customer said he replaced a single cracked part and only charged for the part before quoting a full system swap for comparison. Emergency response draws specific praise too -- a 2025 review described a no-heat call during a heat wave answered and fixed by the next morning, and a 2023 review described David returning three separate times until a stubborn heating problem was fully resolved. The record isn't uniform. A 2026 review described a furnace installation gone wrong -- an oversized unit causing a whistling noise, improperly routed return ductwork, no hardwired carbon monoxide detector, and no permit pulled -- and called the owner dismissive about it. A separate 2025 review described a dispute with the owner over an unrelated driving incident. Its Better Business Bureau page lists an A+ grade (though the business isn't BBB-accredited) and attributes a Massachusetts Department of Fire Services oil-burner license and a US EPA registration to the company; those weren't independently verified against the state registry. Google shows 4.6 stars from 47 ratings. For routine oil and HVAC service, the deep, repeat-customer record here is strong -- the ductwork and permit complaint above is worth asking about directly before a bigger installation job.
I am always skeptical when trying to find someone new to do work on my house. I do not take the time to write reviews often but he deserves it. He came out to look at boiler, changed a part and got it fired up. Identified that it was cracked and had to be completely replaced. Out of sympathy he just charged me for the part he replaced. He gave me a quote of what it would cost to install a new heating system. I called a few friends that are contractors and they agreed it was a very reasonable price. Dave came out the following day and installed it with his technician. Very professional and efficient, he even took a few hundred dollars off the price that he initially quoted. He checked in the following day to make sure everything was running fine. Great guy that knows how to run a business!
Avoid this company like a plague. They promised to do a good job after charging premium price and this is what they delivered. The furnace is making whistling noise when the blower goes on because it’s oversized, they didn’t properly installed return duct work . They cut the hole on the side when the old furnace was pulling in the air from the floor to make it up sealed system they didn’t put a hard wired carbon monoxide detector. They didn’t pull a permit so this is far from professional. Also, the owner is super rude and clearly doesn’t care about people’s safety.
A few friendly reminders: 1. it is illegal to pass a bicycle closer than 4ft. 2. It is illegal to be using your phone while driving. 3. It is illegal to cross the double yellow to go around a slower vehicle (and silly to do so just to get to a red light more quickly) 4. It is LEGAL for a bicycle to take the full lane. 5. It is LEGAL to cross the double yellow to safely pass a bicycle. Is it really worth taking on all that liability to… checks notes… save ZERO seconds? We got to the Clarendon Towers at the exact same time…
The owner of this company nearly caused a serious accident this morning that could have cost me my life. Shockingly, he did not stop to check on me or assess the damage. When I called to ask him to stop and exchange information, he laughed at me-even as I expressed how shaken and frightened I was. I have reported the incident to the police, but I believe it's important for others to know the kind of person running this business. Highly recommend anyone but this company UPDATE: I’m no longer a MA resident so this hilarious to me . All I did was file an insurance claim but it is good to know Karma exists! It sounds like begin a bad person caught up to you 😂
My A/C went out during the beginning of the heatwave- I got 4-5 estimates. All of them except David of Professional Oil and HVAC tried to sell me a new system- never even looking to fix my problem. I got quotes of 15K, 20K, 25K- David resolved my problem within an hour for less than $300. He came and began to figure out what the problem, was a blown motor. Hallelujah!!! Honest. Knowledgeable. True Professionalism still exist!!! So Grateful and Highly Recommended!!!
