Professional Oil and HVAC is a Winthrop, MA shop run by David Bomarsi, and in about three years in business it has already built up 47 Google reviews averaging 4.6 stars, plus an A+ Better Business Bureau rating (though it isn't a BBB-accredited business). The work is boiler, furnace, and air conditioning repair and installation for homes and offices. The two most recent reviews show both sides of the record. In April, a customer wrote that David found a cracked part in their boiler, replaced it, charged only for the part out of sympathy, and quoted a new heating system at a price a couple of contractor friends called reasonable. A few months earlier, though, someone described a very different job: a newly installed furnace whistling because it was oversized, return ductwork they say was installed improperly, no permit pulled for the work, and no hardwired carbon monoxide detector — and called the owner dismissive when they raised it. Older reviews and outside directories lean more positive: bestprosintown.com describes the crew as fast and clean on multi-unit jobs, and a localitybiz.com reviewer called David honest and knowledgeable. BBB records also list a Massachusetts Department of Fire Services license and a US EPA registration on file for the business. A couple of the company's oldest, lowest-rated Google reviews raise conduct complaints that have nothing to do with the HVAC work itself — worth knowing about, but separate from how the actual jobs turned out. Before booking anything beyond a repair, it's worth asking directly about permitting and code items like a hardwired CO detector, since that's the one detailed complaint on record. One listing site advertises over 25 years of experience, which doesn't match BBB's record of the business starting in 2023 — treat that figure skeptically. For a straightforward repair, the reviews point to someone who diagnoses honestly and prices fairly. For a full system installation, get the permit and inspection details nailed down in writing before the crew starts.

I am always skeptical when trying to find someone new to do work on my house. I do not take the time to write reviews often but he deserves it.

He came out to look at boiler, changed a part and got it fired up. Identified that it was cracked and had to be completely replaced. Out of sympathy he just charged me for the part he replaced. He gave me a quote of what it would cost to install a new heating system. I called a few friends that are contractors and they agreed it was a very reasonable price.

Dave came out the following day and installed it with his technician. Very professional and efficient, he even took a few hundred dollars off the price that he initially quoted. He checked in the following day to make sure everything was running fine. Great guy that knows how to run a business!

Avoid this company like a plague. They promised to do a good job after charging premium price and this is what they delivered. The furnace is making whistling noise when the blower goes on because it’s oversized, they didn’t properly installed return duct work . They cut the hole on the side when the old furnace was pulling in the air from the floor to make it up sealed system they didn’t put a hard wired carbon monoxide detector. They didn’t pull a permit so this is far from professional. Also, the owner is super rude and clearly doesn’t care about people’s safety.

A few friendly reminders:

1. it is illegal to pass a bicycle closer than 4ft.
2. It is illegal to be using your phone while driving.
3. It is illegal to cross the double yellow to go around a slower vehicle (and silly to do so just to get to a red light more quickly)
4. It is LEGAL for a bicycle to take the full lane.
5. It is LEGAL to cross the double yellow to safely pass a bicycle.

Is it really worth taking on all that liability to… checks notes… save ZERO seconds? We got to the Clarendon Towers at the exact same time…

The owner of this company nearly caused a serious accident this morning that could have cost me my life. Shockingly, he did not stop to check on me or assess the damage. When I called to ask him to stop and exchange information, he laughed at me-even as I expressed how shaken and frightened I was. I have reported the incident to the police, but I believe it's important for others to know the kind of person running this business. Highly recommend anyone but this company

UPDATE: I’m no longer a MA resident so this hilarious to me . All I did was file an insurance claim but it is good to know Karma exists! It sounds like begin a bad person caught up to you 😂

My A/C went out during the beginning of the heatwave- I got 4-5 estimates. All of them except David of Professional Oil and HVAC tried to sell me a new system- never even looking to fix my problem. I got quotes of 15K, 20K, 25K- David resolved my problem within an hour for less than $300. He came and began to figure out what the problem, was a blown motor. Hallelujah!!! Honest.
Knowledgeable. True Professionalism still exist!!! So Grateful and Highly Recommended!!!
