Prometheus Home Services, a plumbing company at 76 Maple St in Stoneham, has two very different stretches in its reviews. Through 2023 customers wrote about fast emergency calls; from February 2024 on, the Google reviews turn to no-shows, prepaid work and a company that stopped answering. The 2023 work is specific. In a December 2023 review, a customer said the crew arrived within 24 hours, three days before Christmas, with a replacement water heater, vacuumed up the overnight leak and labeled the heater's switch on the electrical panel. A July 2023 reviewer called at 11:30am and had a new water heater in by 3:00pm. In October 2023 a sump pump died with the basement flooding, and a new one went in within three hours. A September 2023 customer said the plumbers repaired a toilet rather than insisting on a new one, saving several hundred dollars, and an October 2023 reviewer described two years of searching before the company replaced a part on an antique toilet in two hours without tearing it out. Price drew complaints even in that period. In July 2023 a customer called the shut-off valve replacement extremely overpriced: the estimate was two hours for two people and the job took under 20 minutes. In October 2023 another was charged $245 for a leak diagnosis they disputed, and a September 2023 drain customer was billed for a fourth drain the crew could not get equipment into. The more serious complaints come later. In a November 2023 Google review, a landlord said the company claimed to pull a permit for a new heating system, cashed the check and left the tenants without heat for nearly two months. Between February and May 2024, six Google reviewers gave one star: a customer who paid half up front said the crew failed to show four times and they were disputing the charge as fraud; another prepaid in full and had been chasing the business for over a month; one wrote that the company had disappeared and others were asking them for money; and a May 2024 customer never got a report for an inspection they paid for. A September 2023 HomeAdvisor customer described a tub and shower install that left the tub rocking and the surround lifting, followed by a no-show for the repair visit. Earlier, in a July 2022 Google review, a customer said the plumber called after the 8am–12pm window had closed to say he was 40 minutes away, and that this happened at two of their three appointments. Google shows 4.3★ from 68 ratings; Angi shows 3.9★ from 7. The reviews run from 2022 to 2024.
