Brian Donahue's name is in almost every review of his own company, which tells you most of what Aquion Mechanical Group is. It runs out of 211 Park Street in Stoneham; Donahue says he grew up in the town and started the company after more than a decade in residential and commercial plumbing and HVAC. His site calls heating the specialty — boilers, furnaces, tankless conversions — and the jobs customers describe bear that out, with plumbing a close second. What stands out is the shape of the history. Thirty written reviews have landed on Google since late April 2026, all of them five stars, and they are not the vague sort: a furnace serviced fifteen feet in the air, a condenser coil cleaned and refrigerant recharged in an apartment, a ducted heat pump taken from consultation through startup, a water heater swapped with the old unit hauled away, two weeks of troubleshooting an HVAC setup alongside a full replacement of bathroom fixtures. Two themes repeat often enough to be real. The first is off-hours availability. One customer was in Columbus over a 100-degree weekend when the AC died at home; they write that he came after hours, got it running temporarily, then returned to fix it properly. A second name, Josh, turns up in another review — at the house by 9:30 on a Friday night, with an electrician arranged for Sunday. The second is price. Several customers say they had already collected quotes from larger HVAC companies and that Aquion came in well under them, and more than one goes out of the way to say they weren't sold equipment they didn't need. One homeowner on the South Shore writes that he beat the prices local to them even after driving down. The caution is how young all of this is. Every written account dates from the past four months, so nothing here describes how a boiler or a heat pump he installed is holding up a year or three on. Google's 59 ratings against 30 written accounts means roughly half carry no text at all, and it is all one platform — a 2023 Nextdoor listing quoting neighbors calling the work “quick, efficient and professional” is the only thing outside Google. The licence number printed on the site, PL35247, is the company's own claim; nothing here checks it against the state registry. A sensible call for a no-heat night, a failing water heater, or a mini-split or heat-pump install where you would rather deal with the owner than a rotating crew. Confirm PL35247 with the Commonwealth before booking, and ask for a reference from a job older than this year.
