R.A. Hamilton Electric is a Weston, Massachusetts electrician whose calling card, across seventeen reviews on Angi and HomeAdvisor going back to 2015, is showing up when he says he will. The state registry backs an active Massachusetts electrician license under the same number customers see listed on both platforms. Ryan — the name every reviewer uses — turns up again and again for punctuality and speed: one 2016 review says he "arrived on time and finished same day as promised," another calls him "quick to respond." In a 2023 review, a customer described hiring him to remove knob-and-tube wiring still hiding behind an apartment wall and bring the unit up to code; he and an assistant handled the rewiring plus a run of new outlets and lighting, cleaning up daily and finishing without surprises. Pricing comes up unprompted and favorably: in a 2022 review, a homeowner says he quoted a simpler fix, $3,100 cheaper than a competitor's proposal for a new breaker box, and talked her out of work she didn't need. Other reviewers call his rates competitive and reasonable. Across the whole run — Google, Angi, HomeAdvisor — the star average never drops below 4.5, and the two most recent reviews on file, from 2024, keep the same thread: "timely, efficient and reasonable." One thing worth flagging: the state registry lists the active license's holder as Richard Maguire, a different name than the Ryan every review names as the tech who does the work — likely the LLC's licensed master electrician versus the person customers deal with day to day, though nothing on file spells out the relationship. For routine residential electrical work — wiring, panel upgrades, fixture and outlet swaps, landscape lighting — this is a well-documented, consistently reviewed choice; it's worth asking who's actually licensed on the job before you book.
“Timely, efficient and reasonable.”
Highly recommend. Finding a decent, timely electrician can be difficult, and I was fortunate to be referred to Ryan. Timely, efficient and reasonable. Will be our go-to electrician from now on.
Was a seemless and easy process, extremely professioal. I will recommend to all my friends and family!
We had a great experience with Ryan Hamilton Electric when they came to work on our building and in our apartment. We had discovered that the knob and tube wiring that we thought had been removed from our apartment was still present, and so we hired Ryan to remove the old type of wiring and bring our unit up to code. Ryan and his assistant Tim went above and beyond when it came to doing the work. Ryan explained very clearly to us exactly what the issues were with the knob and tube wiring and showed us exactly what had to be done to fix the problem. We had no surprises. While we were hiring Ryan to remove the old wiring, we also asked him about doing some other electrical work in our apartment. Ryan was happy to add on these further improvements and charge us only for the materials since we were already paying for the labor. Ryan listened to our desire for improved lighting and better outlets, and he presented solutions that would work for us and our kids. He found the perfect lighting fixtures for all the bedrooms and the bathroom, and he offered to improve lighting when it seemed necessary. The project took a few days; Ryan made sure we had the temporary lighting we would need in the evenings after he had completed work for the day. Ryan and Tim also cleaned up beautifully each afternoon when they were done with their work. Ryan and Tim didn't just do exemplary work. They were also warm, friendly, and affable, and a delight to have working in our apartment. We will actually miss having them around, but we were so impressed and delighted by their work that we plan to hire them again soon to improve the lighting in the kitchen and to install new outlets in the bedrooms. R. A. Hamilton Electric has my highest recommendation. I am a very happy and satisfied homeowner.
I asked him to come for a quote because another electrician told me I needed a new breaker box, which would have been very costly. He suggested a much simpler process for a savings of $3,100. He was also able to show me why I did not need the extra work. So he is honest and does not do unnecessary work.
Ryan showed up on time and got the job done. I'd installed the Ecobee thermostat myself, but it wasn't working correctly. Ryan re-wired and made sure everything was working right.
