Verified record
Ralph R Meola is a one-man residential contracting operation run from 9 Bishop Lane in Middleton, Massachusetts, working under the owner's own name rather than a company brand. The permit record is the substantial part of the story. BuildZoom lists 37 permitted projects stretching back more than a decade: bathroom and kitchen remodels through Boston's South End, a second-floor master bedroom and bathroom reconfiguration in Waban, kitchen and bath renovations in Newton Center, window replacement in Wakefield, a front porch rebuild in Everett, and two new single-family homes in Danvers built in 2012 and 2013. Customer feedback is almost non-existent, and what exists is bad. Exactly one review is published anywhere: a one-star account posted in August 2022 by a homeowner who paid $13,000 for a bathroom renovation and described missing, cracked and crumbling grout, tiles that were not level, water leaking down to the first floor, and a cracked shower bench, saying she would have to hire someone else to redo the job. Read that with one caveat — the review's own text describes the work as having been subcontracted through another firm, JT & Son, and names "Joe" rather than Ralph Meola, so who is being criticised is genuinely unclear from the page itself. Credentials need checking directly with the state. BuildZoom lists a Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor registration #166480 as active and two Construction Supervisor licences, #CS-088931 and #CS-088767, and separately shows an older Home Improvement Contractor registration, #137708, that it says was at one point cancelled. These are the directory's claims, not verified here, and the same page carries internal contradictions in its licence data, so a homeowner should confirm current standing with the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation and the Department of Public Safety before hiring. With a single customer review on file — and one whose subject is ambiguous — there is not enough independent feedback to judge this contractor's current work with any confidence. Anyone considering him should ask for recent references and photographs from jobs comparable to their own, particularly tile and waterproofing work.
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from Ralph R Meola. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.

Joe was hired a as a sub for tile work (by Joe Tello JT & Son) Despite complaining to both multiple times there are STILL spots where grout is missing, cracked, crumbling. Tiles are not level/flush, making grout unstable. Water is leaking down through to first floor of my home, shower bench cracked and unusable. Couldn't be more disappointed. Paid $13K for a total bathroom reno, now have to hire someone else and pay them to do re-do the whole job.
