Ray Bilodeau builds on Martha's Vineyard, and by the company's own account he went into business for himself as a contractor and custom-home builder in 1987. The work is the big kind: custom homes and new construction, with remodeling and additions alongside. The business lists Vineyard Haven as its base, and the site says Ray is involved in its projects himself. The written accounts run 2016 to 2018 — seven of them, all on Angi, all five stars. A November 2018 customer had a first- and second-story addition built and described Ray as trustworthy, honest and highly skilled. In March 2016, one homeowner singled out his woodworking, another called him dependable and said he finished the job in a timely manner, and a third described a crew that took suggestions and made changes as the work went along. The island work has drawn notice beyond the review sites. A May 2022 piece on waterviewhome.net reported that the company had recently completed a home on Bayberry Lane, and golfcoursehome.com has featured homes it built. Its Better Business Bureau page carries an A+ and an accredited listing. The BBB profile lists a construction supervisor licence, CS-048727, along with 161980; Angi, HomeAdvisor and BuildZoom each list 161980 as well. Houzz shows five projects under the company's name. This is a builder for the substantial island job — a custom home, a two-story addition, a full remodel — run by the man whose name is on the truck. Before you sign, ask Ray for the licence numbers himself, ask which of his Vineyard builds you can go and walk, and get the schedule and scope down in writing.
