Restoration Window Doctor is a one-person window and screen restoration operation run by Javier Rosales out of 113 White St in Belmont, MA. Every review on file describes the same kind of call — an antique casement that won't latch, a storm window with a cracked pane, a screen that needs rebuilding — the specialty work homeowners with older houses look for instead of a full window swap. The written record runs from 2012 to 2015, with nothing on file since. In several detailed accounts from that stretch, customers describe Javier taking apart old sashes, reglazing panes, and rebuilding rotted window frames: a 2012 review says he 'rebuilt the frames and installed the windows beautifully.' Another homeowner that year called a garage-window rebuild 'exceptional,' writing that he 'replied promptly,' was 'extremely accommodating,' and 'came back exactly when he said he would to finish the job.' A 2013 reviewer who had him restore an antique dining-room window called the crew 'really specialist,' adding, 'they are the people you leave with your antique window.' The same years also hold some serious complaints. In a 2012 review, a customer says she paid a $3,825 deposit for 17 replacement windows and received neither the windows nor her money back, and describes filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and pursuing small claims court. Several other 2012–2013 reviews describe missed appointments and unfinished screen or storm-window jobs, with more than one reviewer linking the gaps to a family emergency Javier was dealing with at the time; one 2013 review says his phone had been disconnected and the business appeared to have closed, though reviews describing completed jobs continued into 2015. Angi's own summary rating — 4.3 stars from 34 ratings — reads considerably more positive than this run of specific written complaints suggests. For a repair or restoration job on an older window in the Belmont area, the craftsmanship described here, when the job went well, is detailed and specific. Given how old this record is and how serious a few of the complaints are, it's worth confirming by phone that the business is still active and getting a clear timeline and deposit terms in writing before paying anything upfront.

I can not recall the final amount paid. It was somewhere between 300-500. The initial experience was fair. I had gotten a big deal and used it for the screen repairs. He repaired screens in older windows but didn't paint the wood surrounds so it looks half finished. The workmanship was mediocre. As for the finishing/painting, this should have been done before the screens were attached. I had expected this to be much higher quality. Javier measured and ordered the screens and deadlights for my oddly shaped dining room windows. He was going to install them. When I reached out for him to do this work, I had found out that his phone had been disconnected and he was no longer in business. I never did find out what happened. I ended up having to hire a handyman to complete the work. It appears that he is back in business. But based on my experience, I would not hire him again.
They did a good job, they were here, they showed up when they told me they were coming. They delivered the window at the price we negotiated. Very good. Very responsive. Very helping .They explained everything very well.
Measured and ordered Screens/Storms for old casement windows in dining room. Installed the storm in the one window that does not open and screens in the others. Was to come back to put hardware on and put on storms later in the fall but evidently, went out of business before that could happen (with no notice at all). Repaired several screens. Replaced some wood around old screens. Was rather sloppy in appearance when he arrived for the estimate (BIG DEAL PURCHASE) but opted to go with the work as I'd paid for it and he seemed knowledgable and trustworthy. Added the custom screen/storm after asking him about it and was disappointed when the hardware came in a shiny finish rather than something less visible (and white as I'd been led to believe). The windows are high up and Javier suggested that I wait to install the hardware for the storms until later in the fall and he'd come back to do so. When I tried to call, his phone had been disconnected. Went back on Angies list to find that others had similar experiences and that he'd gone AWOL. Very unprofessional. Disappointing.
see above.
They are very thorough. There's no doubt that if we have the budget to entrust the job to them, they will do an excellent job. These people are really specialist. They are the people you leave with your antique window. They gave us multiple options for the window restoration. They were very helpful. They were very professional.
