The company describes itself there as a Peabody heating and cooling contractor, and its listed work includes heat pump service, HVAC repairs and thermostat installation. In a November 2014 review, one customer said an unsuccessful first service visit led to a replacement water source heat pump. The customer reported paying in advance, waiting through a delayed delivery and installation, then hiring another contractor after Rite Temp did not respond to requests to correct the installed unit. That customer also said a distributor described the unit as having been at its facility for a while and believed the price was higher than competing quotes; those are the customer’s accounts, not independent findings. Other 2013 and 2014 customers described a different experience. A December 2013 reviewer praised a weekend appointment with technician Henry, while a June 2014 customer said Henry and his partner returned the next day after a newly installed air conditioner did not work on its first use. Several July 2014 comments called the service prompt. But a separate July 2014 customer reported a missed follow-up appointment and no callback, and another believed a new unit had been proposed when a small part was faulty. If you are calling about a heat pump or air conditioner, ask for a written scope, the service-call price, and a clear plan for follow-up if the repair or installation does not work as expected. My ordeal with this contractor began in late June when a water source heat pump was not cooling properly. After a service visit that was not successful in solving the problem I decided to replace the unit due to it's age. After requiring full payment in advance, he ordered a new heat pump with a 6 week lead time. Around the time the unit was due to be delivered (late August) I contacted him a couple of times to determine status of order. When I received no response I contacted distributor who reported heat pump had been at their facility for "quite a while". There seemed to be no urgency to get the unit installed in spite of the fact that I had been without AC all summer. When the unit was finally installed during the second week of September it took a while to realize it was neither heating or cooling properly due to being between seasons. I called and requested him to come back to correct problems, after receiving no response I finally brought in another contractor who repaired unit which is now working properly. I have also found out that his price for the heat pump was considerably higher than I could have obtained from other contractors. I do not recommend this contractor.

Quick to call me; but pricey service call fee to start. Performed minor work and hundreds of dollars later; rescheduled service call and asked "someone will be here for the follow up?" Yes.
