Across RMC Renovations' Google and Thumbtack reviews, homeowners write about Richie — the owner who returned the first call, showed up when he said he would, and stayed on the job until it was finished. Several say they have hired him more than once; one writes that he has worked for their family and their friends too.
RMC is based in Billerica and, by its own account, covers the Greater Lowell and Boston area — Andover, Lowell, Nashua, Tewksbury, Chelmsford, Concord, Westford and a couple of dozen towns besides. The company describes itself as a construction and remodeling outfit handling kitchens, bathrooms, basements, additions, custom builds, carpentry, decks, flooring, siding and roofing. Its Thumbtack profile lists Richard "Richie" Coutinho as the owner, seven years in business and a passed background check.
The jobs homeowners described through late 2025 and early 2026 split cleanly between inside and out. Inside: finished basements, remodeled kitchens, a load-bearing wall opened up to reshape a main living space, a second floor added to a Danvers home. Outside: cedar clapboard siding, new windows, composite decking laid over rotted porch boards, a farmer's porch with new shutters, a four-season porch with railings. More recently, in September 2026, a Watertown homeowner wrote about a bathroom remodel in an old house and singled out how the crew handled the surprises an old house brings.
Homeowners keep returning to the same two things. One is timing: a December 2025 siding-and-windows customer wrote that the crew was on time every day, and November 2025 reviewers said the job started and finished on schedule with cleanup done daily. The other is price — "fair," "reasonable," quoted on the spot — including in a 2019 Thumbtack review from a homeowner who brought Richie in to fix a front stair rebuild another builder had botched.
The Thumbtack profile lists an Unrestricted CSL for the company. That is the directory's entry rather than a state verification, so ask to see the licence and a current certificate of insurance before anyone starts.
RMC suits a whole-room or whole-exterior project where one crew carries the framing, carpentry and finish work instead of a chain of subcontractors. Get the schedule and the payment milestones in writing, and ask how change orders get priced — several of these projects were old houses, and old houses turn up surprises.
