Rodenhiser Plumbing, Heating AC and Electric is a large, Holliston-based home-services company covering plumbing, HVAC, and electrical work across eastern Massachusetts, with an active state sheet metal business license and an A+ BBB accreditation. Its written record is enormous — 769 reviews since 2018 across eight platforms, including 199 in the last six months alone. Most of that record is the same-day, name-the-technician story that shows up again and again: Dan, Jacob, Mason, Devin and others dispatched within hours for a failed AC, a leaking water heater, or an electrical issue, walking customers through the diagnosis and the options before starting. Recent examples include a toilet leak resolved within about ninety minutes of the first call and a 22-year-old central AC unit's failed capacitor replaced the same afternoon during a heat wave. The complaints that do surface tend to cluster around bigger-ticket work and quoting rather than routine repair visits. A 2025 review describes a roughly $50,000 mini-split system failing twice within about a year, with weeks-long waits for service each time. A 2023 Houzz review alleges an $11,000 AC system failed because of wiring the company reportedly knew was defective. On Reddit, one commenter describes a $5,800 quote for an electrical repair that another electrician later completed for $1,300, on top of a $75 fee just for the quote. A 2026 review separately describes a technician declining to give a phone estimate for a pump replacement, then charging a $79 diagnostic fee toward a $601 quote. Given the size of the operation, it's worth treating the routine-repair reviews and the big-install reviews as two different track records — the day-to-day service calls read consistently well, but for a major system replacement it's worth getting a firm, itemized quote in writing and asking directly about warranty terms before signing.
“Please don’t ever hire Sila for anything. Companies like that make it very hard for me (a residential builder and remodeler) to have a few different mechanical subcontractors per trade. All Sila and Rodenheiser do is buy smaller companies so they have more licenses to pull permits. The license guys just do final checks, not usually the actual work (to be fair it’s not that hard) and are usually not on site for the inspections (according to a lot of inspectors I work with). OP - you said mini ”
