Ron Marsan & Son is about as small as a construction business gets: a one-man general contracting shop working out of Hawkes Brook Lane in Methuen, with a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration that is active. Its history is long — the Better Business Bureau counts 38 years, dating the start to 1988, with the LLC formed in 2019 and Ron Marsan himself listed as the owner and sole employee. What that history has not produced is a public record of customer experiences: a single five-star Google review is the entire written account of hiring him, and BBB shows the business as Not Rated because it lacks sufficient information to grade it. That means there is nothing here to tell you how a project of any size goes — no pattern of praise or complaint to read, and no photos of finished work. The verified registration and the decades in business are real facts, but they are not a substitute for references. If you want a longtime local contractor for a small job and are prepared to do the vetting yourself, ask for three recent customers you can call, get the scope and price in writing, and ask for current insurance certificates. Anyone planning a larger renovation should probably talk to a shop with a deeper, checkable track record as well.

My husband is elderly and disabled. He was in a rehab and not able to come home without a wheelchair ramp. The cost of a ramp was well above our budget. I called the senior center in Methuen and they sent Ron Marsan out. He came out at 7:30 in the morning and built a gorgeous ramp for my husband. He donated his time and Methuen Co-Op donated the materials. My husband would have been housebound and we would not have been able to get him home. Out of the goodness of his heart, he was a knight in shining armor to us. We are so thankful to him. The ramp looks better than we could have imagined. We are so grateful and happy. There should be more people like him on the world. Diane & Tom Bell
