Twenty-seven years in Dedham, MA is a long run for any contractor, and Royal Contracting's owner Dermot McElligott has the review trail to match: 25 reviews stretching from 2008 to 2025 across three platforms, most of them detailed accounts of kitchen and bathroom remodels, decks, porches, and the general renovation work that makes up whole-home projects. The company handles basement remodels, kitchen and bathroom remodels, deck and porch construction, and larger home renovations, plus smaller jobs like painting and plastering. The reviews read like a contractor who shows up and finishes. A 2025 review describes a new two-story exterior staircase built for a reasonable price; another from the same year describes interior painting, wall plastering, and hanging doors, mirrors, and drapery rails, with the crew working extra hours to finish before guests arrived. Further back, a 2010 review describes a complete kitchen renovation with a new entry and side door, and a 2013 review tells the story of building a portico for a ranch house — the crew worked past 7pm on a Friday to beat the rain, and absorbed a late design change at no extra cost. Bathroom remodels come up again and again in reviews dated 2008 through 2010, with reviewers consistently mentioning punctuality, daily clean-up, and pricing that came in fair or under budget. The one substantive complaint on file is a 2011 review from a customer who hired Royal Contracting for a kitchen and bathroom remodel in an older building: about six months after the project finished, they needed another plumber to fix a leaking kitchen faucet, reinstall a pull-out wastebasket drawer, and address an overflow-drain leak in the bathtub. It's the lone flagged issue in an otherwise clean run of positive accounts spanning close to two decades, but worth asking about directly — specifically what warranty coverage applies to plumbing fixtures installed during a remodel. Royal Contracting is listed with a Massachusetts trade license (#164231) on HomeAdvisor and Houzz, and carries an Angi Approved Pro badge and an Angie's List Super Service Award. For a full kitchen or bathroom remodel, a deck or porch build, or a mix of smaller home-improvement jobs in the Dedham area, this is a contractor with two decades of specific, checkable stories behind it — confirm current scheduling and get the specifics of any workmanship warranty in writing before signing on for a larger project.

“Dermot and his team exceeded expectations on our kitchen renovation.”
The job was done timely and well for a reasonable price. I'm very happy with the final result of my new 2-story exterior set of stairs.
Internal house painting wall plastering and general hanging doors mirrors and rails for drapes. They arrived on time. Worked extra hours to ensure completion of the bucket list as we had guests arriving. I plan to use the service in the future
Everything was completed on time and with in budget. Great experience all around. I would most definitely use Royal contracting again.
The job was done on time and the worker was very friendly and answered all my questions.
Very easy to work with. Great ideas for small space. On point on time and budget
