Saulnier Floors has been laying and restoring wood floors on Boston's North Shore since 1951 — long enough that its president, Paul Saulnier, learned the trade from his father, "Babe," before growing what was a two-man shop into what the company calls the region's largest flooring outfit. It's a family business out of Peabody with a real showroom, an NWFA certification, and a crew whose names show up again and again in reviews: Brian on the site visits, Julianne walking people through the showroom, and Elmer finishing up. The through-line across 72 Google ratings, averaging 4.7, is craftsmanship on hard problems. One recent customer had been told by several companies that a partially below-grade slab ruled out hardwood; Saulnier walked them through the options and installed engineered hardwood that, by their account, came out flawless. Others describe twenty-year-old floors sanded and refinished back to looking new, and — increasingly — sharp epoxy garage floors finished cleanly around door tracks and heating equipment. Two things are worth knowing before you call. First, price: they win on quality, not on cost, and reviewers say plainly they weren't the cheapest quote — the recurring verdict is "you get what you pay for." Second, a minority of customers over the years have had a rougher time, with the sharpest complaints centering on scheduling and on work being done beyond what was agreed; it's worth pinning down the scope, the start date, and what's authorized in writing before the crew arrives. For a North Shore homeowner weighing a hardwood installation, a refinish of tired floors, custom stair work, or an epoxy garage floor, Saulnier is an established, deeply-reviewed choice with the tenure and certification to back the work. Get the quote and scope in writing, confirm the timeline, and you'll know what you're signing up for.

Can I give 10 stars? We have a partially below grade slab foundation and had numerous floor companies tell us we couldn’t do hardwoods. From Brian’s first visit to our home and Julianne taking us through the showroom, they filled me with confidence in their knowledge and educated me so much on the process. They assured us they could install engineered hardwood with no issues. The entire process was seamless and our floors look amazing. They were certainly not the cheapest quote we got, but you definitely get what you pay for and I can’t recommend them enough!

From 1st call (admits a water leak emergency) to Julianne to Brian’s site visit to explain products & process to their squeezing in the work to accommodate our schedule and finally Elmer’s final sweep and wash of floor, triple A service. Timely, knowlegable and great follow-through, we’d recommend them without hesitation.

Although the office personnel have sweet voices and outwardly kind dispositions, their trustworthiness is suspect. Beware! They may do unauthorized work in your home ! They did in mine. Although I informed the office that I didnot want to proceed with a portion of their proposal, their crew proceeded with this work anyway, while performing work that I did authorize and pay for. Their response? "We thought it would make you happy ". Thank goodness I had email documentation of "no thanks. I only want work in 1 room, not 4 rooms." In my estimation, a company that installes unauthorized goods, isn't trustworthy; a company that presupposes their actions contribute to ",my happiness " is laughable.<br>Surely , the company "Google review responder" will negate what I have written. So be it. Just another example of their comeuppance, in my oponion.
